Job Description
The internship program provides students enrolled in education environments with paid opportunities to explore Federal careers. This position is established to provide a meaningful employment opportunity in the Biological Science Technician Occupation. Open to the first 50 applicants or until 01/16/2025 whichever comes first. Job Requirements
All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-01/16/2025-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Temporary appointment not-to-exceed one year but may be extended each year without further competition, if you continue to meet the eligibility requirements under the Pathways Internship program and funding is available. Interns may be eligible for non-competitive conversion to permanent employment. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount qualified specialized experience. To qualify for this position at the GS-05 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one (1) full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes vegetation management activities such as: applying/performing a variety of manual, mechanical, chemical, and/or bio-control methods to manage exotic (non-native) species, native species, and/or weeds; performing basic vegetation inventories, studies, and surveys; participating in site rehabilitation through soil preparation, planting, propagating, and weeding; etc. You must include start/end months and hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least completed four (4) years of education above high school (120 semester hour or 180 quarter hours) leading to a bachelor's degree with major study or 24 semester hours of course work in a related field (such as in biology, chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture, ecology, or mathematics, or other directly-related subject matter); and at least 6 semester hours of this coursework was in plant or botany-related subjects. You must include transcripts. -OR- Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. You must include transcripts. CTAP/ICTAP: CTAP/ICTAP provides placement assistance to permanent Federal employees who are surplus, displaced, or involuntarily separated. Applicants claiming CTAP/ICTAP eligibility must submit a copy of their most recent performance appraisal, proof of eligibility, and most current SF-50 noting position, grade level, and duty location with their application.
