Join Police Digital Service as NMC Cyber DevOps Engineer £60,000 - £65,000 About Police Digital Service To protect people from harm in our rapidly changing world, police services must not only keep up with technology and business changes but develop capabilities and ways of working that will enable them to adapt to and deal with the complexity of modern criminality. Police Digital Service strives to be the go-to partner for technology developments and programmes across UK policing. The National Management Centre (NMC) is part of Police Digital Service and provides visibility and control of information risks for policing. It supports the 24x7x365 nature of police operations, providing a threat detection and response capability for digital services before, during and after cyber-attacks, enabling stakeholders to understand and proactively manage risk across the technology estate at both the national and force level. Key Responsibilities Build, Run and Maintain applications and platforms that underpin NMC Services. Build, Run and Maintain integrations with existing toolsets for enhancements and enrichments. Drive continual improvement initiatives for deployed applications and platforms. Act as a Subject Matter Expert for other members of the Cyber DevOps Team. Ensure developed applications and platforms are aligned with Secure by Design and Secure Software Development Lifecycle principles, practices, and processes. Ensure documentation is relevant, effective, and up to date. Foster a true ?DevSecOps' culture across the organisation. What you need to succeed in the role Essential Proficiency in the following code languages: Python, PowerShell, YAML. Demonstrable understanding and experience of secure application development. Experience and relevant certification in cloud services design and administration. Practical experience in the development, testing, implementation, and support of software systems. Experience working with APIs. Experience working with Git-based repositories and CI/CD pipelines. Initiative and the ability to produce quality work without close supervision. Good written and verbal communication skills, particularly in relation to technical subjects. Attention to detail and genuine passion for maintaining high quality software configurations. Broad cyber security awareness and practical experience. Non-police personnel vetting and Security Check (SC Clearance) will be required as part of the role and must be maintained during tenure. Will be required to sign Official Secrets Act. Desirable Microsoft Azure / Sentinel experience and/or certification. Experience with configuring and supporting vulnerability management software. ISTM tool integration experience. Previous public sector experience. Experience with Microsoft Power Apps / Power Automate. Why Join us? NMC employees have the opportunity to work in our modern office environment for in-person collaboration, however you will also get the opportunity to work from home 2 days a week. Please note that in Q3 of 2025, the NMC will be relocating to offices in the Wigan area. All applicants must be eligible for NPPV3 and SC clearances.
