Job Description
Are you looking to work for a national charity that helps young people achieve their potential and ensure that their background doesn’t need to determine their future? Then this exciting opportunity might be just the job for you: Communication and Marketing Specialist Established in 2009 our mission is a simple one: “ to ensure that every young person in our country, wherever they live, whatever their parents or carers’ circumstances, has the opportunity to meet a diverse range of volunteers to hear first-hand about jobs and the world of work and be inspired about the future”. Our research has proven that young people’s hopes and aspirations are often limited to the world they see around them. They can struggle to relate what they are learning to the real world and their futures and, as a consequence, can suffer from a lack motivation and become disengaged and disillusioned. This research underpins our core work, Inspiring the Future – taking action and giving young people the chance to meet and interact with role models from the world of work who can broaden horizons, raise aspirations and show them what is possible in life. The charity, Education and Employers has recently expanded and strengthened its board of Trustees in order to help it achieve its ambitious goals as outlined in our strategic plan. In order to do this, we need to strengthen our communications and be better at conveying what we do and its impact on young people and the economy. Our Communications and Marketing Officer will shortly be going on maternity leave, and we are looking for some who can cover the hands-on day to day practical tasks but also bring significant expertise and strategic thinking. The role will include refining our messaging, enhancing social media (especially LinkedIn), producing e-bulletins and articles overseeing the launch of a major new research report. This report looks at where young people live and the impact this has on the opportunities open to them – and how those opportunities can be expanded. It explores how virtual interactions, done in a way which works for schools and employers, has the potential to revolutionise how young people view the opportunities open to them in way that has not been possible before. This role is a chance to make a real difference on a big scale with demonstrable impact We want someone with energy and drive, skills and experience, a hands-on doer with a passion to help young people achieve their potential, especially those from less advantaged backgrounds. Someone who can help us to powerfully convey what we do to a wide range of stakeholders – funders, employers, and government. It is an opportunity to work with great team of people who are supportive with colleagues and really committed to what they do.
