ROLE SUMMARY: THE INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF MILAN We are seeking a Curriculum Leader for Creative Arts to join us in September 2025. Candidates should be well-qualified and committed to maintaining high standards, interested in using innovative approaches to teaching and learning, and enthusiastic about promoting international understanding. Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis, both via Skype and in person, so we encourage applicants to apply as soon as possible. Founded in 1958, ISM caters for over 900 students from more than 60 nationalities. Our campus, which opened in September 2013, incorporates a theatre, swimming pool and full-size gymnasium as well as specialist classrooms, labs, libraries, arts and music areas. All of our sections are fully authorised for International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes – Primary Years Programme (PYP) from Kindergarten to Grade 6; Middle Years Programme (MYP) from Grades 7 to 11; Diploma Programme (DP) in Grades 12 and 13. ISM is the most established IB world school in Italy and has an excellent record of results in the Diploma averaging 34/35 points. In addition, we opened our Boarding school in 2018 which has added immensely to the sense of family at ISM. Our host city Milan has long been considered the dynamo of the Italian economy and the country’s most cosmopolitan and forward-looking city. Located near the heart of Europe, it is extremely well-connected with three major airports and easy road and rail links across the country and the continent. Although Milan is a busy commercial centre, the artistic and cultural heritage of Italy is prominent, from galleries and theatres, to its fame as a global focus for fashion, design, nightlife, cuisine and lifestyle. There is a history of sporting excellence and its location near the mountains, lakes and the Mediterranean Sea make it ideal for sporting activities as well as its renowned professional teams. The Position The Curriculum Leader for Creative Arts is a dynamic and visionary educator responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Music, Visual Arts, and Drama programs across all grade levels. The role involves inspiring creativity, fostering artistic excellence, and ensuring alignment with the International Baccalaureate (IB) philosophy and standards. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Curriculum Development: Lead the design of inclusive, challenging curricula for IB DP & MYP Music, Visual Arts, and Drama. Leadership: Mentor creative arts teachers, promoting professional growth and collaboration. Student Engagement: Encourage student participation and excellence in artistic activities, performances, and exhibitions. Assessment: Oversee the development of assessment strategies to reflect student creativity and growth, supporting teachers during the reporting process. Collaboration: Work with other curriculum leaders to ensure interdisciplinary learning and alignment with the school’s mission, attending regular meetings. Events & Performances: Support the planning and execution of artistic events and showcases. Resource Management: Manage budgets and resources to ensure high-quality learning experiences. Advocacy: Promote the value of creative arts within the school community and beyond. Note: Previous IB experience is not required; official IB training and relocation assistance will be provided. Minimum Requirements: University degree in the subject and appropriate teaching qualification. Recent experience teaching the subject within the 14-19 age range (e.g., IB Diploma HL, A-Levels, AP). EU passport holder or valid permit for work and residence in Italy. The person appointed will be expected to begin work on 24th August 2025 before which date a criminal records check will need to be completed as part of our child safeguarding policy.
