Job Description

The Senior Strategic Planner is an experienced individual who acts as the day-to-day point person on the given account(s) and supports new business efforts. This role requires strong foundational planning skills, including facilitation, research, workshop support, project/tactical briefs, and competitive POVs. They must possess storytelling and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively. Additionally, the Senior Strategic Planner develops their ability to handle internal and client questions on agency POVs/recommendations. This position requires a highly motivated individual with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. The Senior Strategic Planner will have the opportunity to work on more complex strategic planning projects, provide strategic guidance to clients, and play a role in new business development. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Brand Planning Understanding and execution of strategic discipline, agency processes and pharma compliance requirements. Gathering of relevant customer dynamics, understand disease state and how to apply this to a brand strategy. Builds story telling skills as it relates to written strategy skills, focus on tactical planning and writing project briefs. Client Management Conducts client workshop preparation and grows workshop facilitation skills. Begins to become more exposed to client meetings and interactions. Growing ability to address internal and client questions on the agency’s POV and recommendations. Cross Functional Collaboration Act as internal brand team(s) day to day point of contact and fosters positive team dynamic. Hone ability to consume and distill information into clear, concise summaries of key takeaways and create a strong point of view. JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES Applies strong foundational understanding of the strategic planning fundamentals of disease state, indications, customer and science of assigned brands. Acts as the strategic planning day to day point of contact for internal team on key accounts and grows client exposure. Understands and effectively utilizes the strategic process and agency structure as well as pharmaceutical marketing guidance and compliance requirements. Leads market research (on smaller projects) and supports facilitation, research design, interviewing, insight identification and reporting on larger projects. Translates deeper immersion into market, competition and customers into a robust fact base and actionable recommendations. Autonomously leads and owns social listening monitoring and analysis. Leads client workshops preparation and comfortably moderate break out groups and capture key takeaways. Attends and contributes to internal/client meetings and creates output reports. Begins to expand strategy skills to a broader set of deliverables including campaign briefs, positioning target, and tactical planning. Supports and informally coaches interns. EDUCATION DEGREE/DIPLOMA Bachelor’s degree AREA OF STUDY Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or Related Field REQUIRED/PREFERRED Preferred EXPERIENCE MINIMUM EXPERIENCE 3 years AREA OF EXPERTISE Brand strategy or market research 2 years Pharmaceutical/health experience KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES Competent in software specific to the client and agency processes including Microsoft Word, Teams, PowerPoint, Excel. Working knowledge in research tools (search databases including SERMO, Datamonitor). Working knowledge in social media platforms. Ability to use AI platforms as an accelerant for brands needs and strategic deliverables. Strong oral and written communication with growing comfort in actively participating in internal and client meetings. Active listening and keen attention to detail. Able to work on multiple projects, adhere to timeline and maintain organization. COMPETENCIES Communication Expresses ideas accurately and clearly.
