Job Description
Who we are Syntetica was founded in 2023 by Marco Bertone (LSE graduate, former Head of Growth at Selency) and Louis Monsigny (PhD). Our mission is ambitious: to decarbonise the textile industry by eliminating fossil-based materials from the production of synthetic textiles. We have developed a groundbreaking technological process that recycles synthetic textile waste, such as nylon and elastane. Since its inception, Syntetica has achieved remarkable milestones: Secured €4.2M in funding from prestigious investors, including EQT Ventures, the family offices of Peugeot Family Office and the Etam Group, and athletes such as Paul-Henri Mathieu and Jean-Éric Vergne to accelerate growth and build a pre-industrial facility. Forged key partnerships with major textile players such as Etam, Victoria's Secret, with plans to launch a recycled collections in 2026. Assembled a core team of 11 experts, over half of whom hold PhDs in chemistry. Syntetica is now seeking an Analytical Engineer to construct our analytical platform, notably our HPLC, GPC and other analyses. Job Description As an Analytical Engineer, you will be responsible for managing the setup, maintenance, and operation of analytical equipment essential to our research and development process. Your expertise will be key in ensuring accurate and reliable data collection to support process optimization. You will develop methods and conduct analyses using tools such as HPLC, GPC, NMR, DSC, and other organic chemistry techniques, working closely with our researchers to translate analytical insights into actionable improvements. Key Responsibilities: Analytical Equipment Management: Set up, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot analytical instruments, including HPLC (for monomer analysis) and GPC (for polymer analysis). Operate and manage additional equipment such as NMR, DSC, and other analytical tools for organic chemistry analysis. Method Development and Validation: Develop and validate analytical methods for HPLC and GPC to ensure reliable and reproducible data collection. Collaborate with researchers to establish protocols for sample preparation and analysis. Data Collection and Analysis: Conduct routine and specialized analyses to support process optimization and experimental research. Identify opportunities to improve data quality, streamline workflows, and enhance the reliability of analytical methods. Collaboration and Support: Work closely with organic chemists and researchers to design experiments that leverage analytical insights. Train and support team members on the use of analytical equipment and best practices. Stay up-to-date with advancements in analytical technologies Required Background Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. Experience working with HPLC and GPC for polymer and monomer analysis, including method development and validation. Hands-on experience with NMR, DSC, and other organic chemistry analytical tools. Proven track record of working in a lab environment, managing analytical equipment, and supporting experimental research. Required skills: Expertise in operating and maintaining HPLC and GPC equipment, with strong method development skills. Proficiency in conducting and interpreting NMR and DSC analyses. Strong understanding of organic chemistry principles and analytical techniques. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot analytical challenges. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy and reliability. Starting date: ASAP
