We have extensive experience in bringing forward complex sites on both brownfield and greenfield land. We provide innovative solutions to problem sites and work hard to deliver comprehensive redevelopment schemes that create benefits for a wide range of stakeholders. We ensure that we create sustainable places and homes that people will want to live and work by designing a range of facilities into our developments. This includes cycle ways, bus services, open green spaces, shops, community facilities, recreational areas, and transport connections. KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: LAND KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: • Working both independently and as part of the BPH Yorkshire team, to identify new development opportunities across the Yorkshire region and beyond, this will include travel to a variety of locations. • Assess the new business opportunities introduced by the wider business teams. • To research BPH projects to enable the preparation of internal key decision documents. This will involve preparation of the original development concept, identifying and approaching landowners and agreeing site negotiation strategies with the business teams. • To develop and maintain a clear appreciation for the geographical, planning, technical and political factors that will affect the outcome of relevant projects. • To develop an understanding of the local authority areas in which relevant projects are located, with particular regard to market areas, political landscape and local plan timetable. This will include building relationships with local stakeholders in communities, local government and landowners. • Ensure that all projects meet the parameters set in the Business Plan, specifically to make sure that projects are delivered on time and on budget. • Liaise with landowners, agents and solicitors to ensure that agreements and/or contractual responsibilities are continually progressed to completion within the Business Plan Programme. PLANNING KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: • Assist in the coordination and preparation of planning applications, environmental statements, planning advice and supporting documentation. • Provide planning assessments to the business teams on early stage forward programme sites. • Coordinate responses and liaise with Local Planning Authority over their review of development plans to ensure that company projects and activities are appropriately represented. • Carrying out research and report on development issues associated with company’s business activities. • Liaise with external consultants e.g. planners. highways, architects, environmental consultants. • Preparation of and submission of reserve matter details to satisfy the requirements of planning permissions. • Preparation and submission of discharge of condition planning applications and monitoring of operational development sites adherence to planning conditions. • Assisting with developing the project strategies by working with the project and business teams. • Preparing briefs and managing consultants/contractors. GENERAL ROLES AND RESPOSIBILITIES: • Actively promote our Company values and ensure compliance with Development with Care, Core Values, Project Management and Group Systems and Policies. • To actively promote the image of the Banks Group to ensure we are regarded as a first class company. • Ensure that all projects are managed to achieve agreed objectives, time, budget and quality parameters. • Where identified as relevant, continue with professional qualifications to secure Chartered status. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: You will be an integral part of the project teams and will be required to work closely with all internal stakeholders and external parties such as landowners, their legal representatives, and agents. You will work closely with the Yorkshire Development project team and be accountable for supporting those individuals to achieve their targets and deadlines. The role will be split between working from the Yorkshire Office, regular meetings at Head Office and a regular requirement to visit targeted sites and to meet landowners or their representatives. QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE: ESSENTIAL: Graduate or equivalent (or working towards), with experience or qualifications in surveying, planning or other related degree. An active awareness and interest in property development and the built environment. Full UK driving licence. DESIRABLE: Work experience in the property/planning sector and wider experience of the office environment. Currently hold, working towards or looking to work towards a RICS or RTPI accredited degree.
