U.S. Got People is searching for a Pediatric Dietitian to work Full-Time at Portsmouth Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth VA, working directly with our active duty service members Benefits for Registered Dietitian Competitive pay We provide a competitive benefits package: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), and Life Insurance We provide sick and paid-time off Schedule: Monday-Friday 0730-1800 Qualifications of Registered Dietitian Degree: Bachelor's degree. Education: Graduate from a college or university accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) or completion of a Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) accredited by the ACEND or completion of a post- Baccalaureate degree Dietetic Internship Program of supervised practice (for a minimum of 1200 hours) accredited by ACEND. Registration: Possess current registration as a Registered Dietitian from the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Experience: Possess experience as a Registered Dietitian with a minimum of two (2) years of pediatric nutrition experience within the preceding three (3) – five (5) years. Board Certification: Certified Specialist in Pediatric Nutrition (CSP), through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics – preferred, but not required. Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted dietetics license or certification. Job duties for Registered Dietitian may include but are not limited to: Act as a liaison between the Nutrition Management Department and the patients. Maintain all required records, reports and statistics in accordance with MTF standard operating procedures. Assist in implementing and evaluating Nutrition Management Department functions. Calculate nutrient and energy intake values and assist in evaluating data from patient’s dietary history. Serve as the specialist in the area of pediatric outpatient nutritional care, providing counseling services to patients with disease processes that required nutritional management and impact on nutritional status. Assist in the development of assessment techniques and education protocols and programs that are necessary for providing comprehensive nutritional care for pediatric outpatients who may have complex nutritional and/or psychosocial problems that impact adherence to prescribed dietary regimens. Provide professional guidance and education in nutritional management and diet counseling of pediatric outpatients to medical residents, interns, allied health professionals, dietetic students, and entry level dietitians. Serve on multidisciplinary treatment teams composted of physicians, nurses, social workers, and other allied health team members. Review the medical record and interact or consult with team members in planning and implementing nutritional care processes compatible with the overall team treatment plan. Provide diet counseling and nutrition care services to pediatric outpatients whose disorders/diseases require complex dietary management. Conduct in-depth diet history with patients and/or caregivers regarding food habits, preferences, ethnic or cultural background, economic status, physical limitations, and lifestyle habits which may impact food intake or the ability to adhere to a nutritional care plan. Review medical records and interview patients to evaluate anthropometric data, laboratory parameters, drug-nutrient interactions, and diet counseling needs. Use of knowledge of etiology and pathophysiology of multiple disease states, knowledge of digestion and metabolism of nutrients, and assessment of nutritional status to develop a realists individualized dietary plan for the patient.
