As part of the Portfolio Strategy & Risk Group (PSRG), which actively guides the firm's investment activities at the portfolio level, the Macro Strategy team contributes by providing macroeconomic and broad equity market projections to help guide the broad investment stance of the firm. In addition, the Macro Strategy team also originates direct macro investment ideas (thematic equity baskets, fixed income and FX trades), provides support to the various deal teams across Temasek for any macro inputs they might require, and assists in scenario development and the projection of Temasek's long-term equity returns. Responsibilities The team is in the process of re-assessing our macroeconomic models and quantitative infrastructure. The intern will assist the team in this process. Specific responsibilities can include: Reviewing existing code, developing and testing new code. Expanding existing models to new markets. Testing and back-testing new (and existing) econometric models. Transferring existing code and spreadsheet models to new platforms . Requirements Pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's degree or PhD in a quantitative field (such as Financial Engineering or quantitative subjects like statistics, math, hard sciences with a preference for those with interest and background in economics/macro) Prior quantitative work experience in finance (sell-side or buy-side) or economics at buy-side firm will be advantageous Programming (Eviews/Matlab/Python preferred) and statistics skillsets are required.
