Vice President/Chief Student Experience Officer Kettering University, a private nonprofit institution and national leader in experiential STEM and business education, seeks an innovative and dynamic leader to serve as its next Vice President/Chief Student Experience Officer (CSXO). This pivotal role offers a distinctive opportunity to shape the future of the student experience at Kettering through visionary leadership. As the Chief Student Experience Officer, the Vice President will collaborate across the University to develop and implement a forward-thinking strategy that enhances each aspect of the student's journey, from admissions to graduation. Reporting directly to the President, the Vice President is a vital member of the President's Cabinet and senior leadership team. This leader will oversee key aspects of Student Life, fostering a holistic, inclusive, and engaging environment that supports student success and well-being. The Vice President will inspire, support, and motivate the staff, collaborating closely with them to modernize the division toward best practices that align with Kettering's vision and mission. Located in Flint, Michigan, Kettering University has a storied history of excellence in experiential cooperative education. The next Vice President will play a critical role in leveraging Kettering's renowned and transformative Co-op program within Student Life, strengthening co-curricular connections with academic affairs, and elevating the student experience through intentional and thoughtful strategies that promote student retention and success. This is a highly visible role that requires significant engagement with and advocacy for students. The CSXO will be responsible for deepening connections between the division and all units to support students throughout their unique educational experience that exemplifies the essence of Kettering. Candidates should have an understanding of cooperative education and an eagerness to learn about and tailor strategies to Kettering University's Co-op model, recognizing its important role in fostering career readiness and leadership development. Additionally, they must demonstrate a steadfast commitment to fostering a vibrant and inclusive campus community while cultivating student affinity for the University. This role requires an experienced leader who has successfully facilitated cross-divisional initiatives that improve students' development, well-being, success, and retention. Successful candidates will excel at articulating a clear vision, presenting ideas effectively, and energizing teams toward a collective goal. Key Responsibilities Leadership and Strategy: &9679;&9;Develop and implement a forward-thinking and innovative vision for Student Life that fosters student engagement, personal growth, retention, and community building. &9679;&9;Lead initiatives that integrate Student Life with enrollment, academic programs, and Co-op experiences, enhancing the experience throughout the entire student lifespan at Kettering. &9679;&9;Develop and manage the budget for the Division of Student Life. Allocate resources effectively to support student programs and services while ensuring fiscal responsibility and sustainability. &9679;&9;Serve as a trusted advisor and collaborator on the President's Cabinet, contributing to University-wide strategic planning and decision-making. &9679;&9;Provide leadership during student crises and emergencies. Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure student safety and well-being. &9679;&9;Ensure that student development programs comply with University policies, legal regulations, and accreditation standards. Stay informed about trends and best practices in student life. Program Oversight: &9679;&9;Supervise and provide strategic direction for: o&9;Student Life Programs: New student orientation, student clubs and organizations, and fraternity and sorority life (about 40% of students participate in the Greek community). o&9;Wellness Center: Promote physical, emotional, and mental well-being through comprehensive health and wellness services. o&9;Multicultural Student Affairs: Advance diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives to create a welcoming campus environment. o&9;Recreational Services and Atwood Stadium: Support student recreation and manage intramural programs, ensuring vibrant and inclusive offerings. o&9;Residence Life: Cultivate a supportive and dynamic on-campus living experience. Data-Driven Decision Making: &9679;&9;Implement assessment tools to measure the effectiveness of student development programs and services. &9679;&9;Utilize data to drive continuous improvement and to inform strategic planning and decision-making. &9679;&9;Leverage insights to drive continuous improvement, innovation, and alignment with student needs and institutional goals. Collaboration and Community Engagement: &9679;&9;Oversee and facilitate cross-divisional collaboration to enhance programs and services that support student development, provide opportunities for professional development, foster a sense of belonging, and promote well-being. &9679;&9;Be a visible presence in campus life; engage regularly with students to understand their needs, concerns, and aspirations, and advocate for their interests within the University. &9679;&9;Foster a campus culture that respects and values differences and provides equitable opportunities for all students. &9679;&9;Develop and build upon Kettering's strong investment in and partnerships within Flint to promote a sense of connection and civic engagement among students. Required Qualifications: &9679;&9;Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, or a related field. &9679;&9;Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in Student Life or related areas in higher education, including personnel management, budget and planning, program development, outcome-oriented assessment, and strategic planning. &9679;&9;An expressed commitment to engaging with and advancing the University's core mission, vision, values, and pillars of success. &9679;&9;An understanding of cooperative education or a willingness to learn, recognizing its transformative ability to foster career readiness and leadership development. &9679;&9;Proven ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives that improve student engagement, retention, and success. Desired Qualifications: &9679;&9;A doctoral or terminal degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, or a related field. &9679;&9;Demonstrated experience integrating across student life and academic affairs and with cross-divisional collaboration to advance student success, strategic enrollment, and revenue generation. &9679;&9;Experience integrating student development across cooperative education or career readiness units. &9679;&9;Skill in articulating a clear and compelling vision that inspires and engages staff, faculty, and students. &9679;&9;Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion with demonstrated experience advancing these values in a campus community. &9679;&9;Knowledge of contemporary theories and practices of student development, campus environmental design, retention, leadership, and higher education administration. &9679;&9;Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams. &9679;&9;Experience in data-driven decision-making and the effective use of assessment tools. &9679;&9;Experience using student success software and technology; implementation experience is a plus.
