Financial Controller

Financial Controller £55,000 - £58,000 Stonehouse Financial Controller role for a leading education provider, overseeing its financial operations, ensuring robust financial management and guiding financial planning. The position involves budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting and will play a key role in supporting the college's strategic initiatives. Responsibilities will include: Overseeing budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management and financial reporting Preparation of accurate and timely financial statements and reports Leading the annual budgeting process, working closely with department heads as a Business Partner Monitoring and report on budget performance, providing insights and recommendations for cost control and efficiency improvements. Preparation of cashflow forecasts to support strategic planning and decision-making Coordinating and overseeing annual audits and liaising with external auditors Ensuring compliance with tax and regulatory requirements, including the preparation and submission of statutory VAT returns. Providing financial analysis and support for strategic decision-making and long-term planning. Managing and developing the finance team, providing leadership, training, and support to ensure high performance. Fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the finance team. Candidate background We are looking for a qualified accountant with proven experience in the areas above. Someone with strong financial acumen and analytical skills, a strategic thinker with strong people management skills. You will possess excellent communication skills, be able to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders and have a high level of proficiency with IT, in particular Excel.
