Position Type: Administration/Director Date Posted: 1/27/2025 Location: CCSD 168 District Office Date Available: 07/01/2025 Reports To: Responsible to and evaluated by the Superintendent of Schools FLSA Status: Exempt Job Focus: The Director of Instructional Services will provide leadership and vision in the ongoing planning, implementation, development, direction, review, and evaluation of the district's curriculum and instructional, federal programs, career and technical education, assessment, research, and evaluation services. Under the direction of the Superintendent, the Director Instructional Services assists the teachers, principals, parents and other professional staff to provide a teaching and learning environment that allows all students the opportunity to achieve and benefit from the school program. Duties and Responsibilities: . Responsible for planning, monitoring and coordinating the District's curriculum activities. This includes systematic evaluation, communication to staff and community, and development of a comprehensive plan with timelines to address curriculum implementation and review. Duties also include planning and implementation of staff development activities regarding current theory and resources used for teaching the curriculum. Coordinates district testing programs, disaggregates data and reports findings to the Superintendent. Coordinates District's Enrichment Program. Assists in the recruiting, selecting, and recommending of personnel. Develops and monitors all federal and state grant programs Administers and maintains appropriate personnel records for all staff including statistical to Illinois State Board of Education and local school board Works with Principals in initiating and administering staff development and in- service education programs for district personnel based on current professional standards. Assists in the development of district polices and administrative procedures. Assists in coordinating all technology in the district Coordinates curriculum planning and updating Coordinates bilingual services throughout the district. Serves as records custodian. Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent of Schools. Guards the confidentiality of all information placed in charge of this office. Breach of this trust shall be grounds for dismissal. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Strong communication skills including speaking, presenting, listening, and writing High levels of instructional expertise, integrity, honesty, credibility, and the courage to make difficult yet necessary decisions Strong leadership and team-building skills, e.g. ability to develop high-performing teams united around a clear vision for serving schools and achieving student success Ability to build collaborative relationships with a variety of constituent groups, including external partners, to ensure the entire system operates in the most effective manner possible to support schools and principals Ability to use multiple data sources to set measurable goals and strategically plan to complete the goals Ability to define problems, analyze data and develop action plans as part of a continuous improvement cycle Excellent communication skills: writing, speaking, and listening Experience with curriculum mapping, unit planning, and formative progress monitoring Knowledge of research-based school improvement models and strategies Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools Minimum Qualifications: Certifications Required: Holds a valid Supervisory and/or Administrative Certificate (Type 75, Type 10, or Type 73) Professional Educator License issued by the Illinois State Board of Education with appropriate grade level required. Master's degree in Education required. Experience Required: Minimum of five (5) years of classroom teaching experience Minimum of three (3) years of experience working with adult learners, including supporting, coaching, designing, and facilitating professional development for classroom teachers and school leaders in an educational setting.
