Summary Are you someone who cares deeply about achieving high standards, and helping to make beauty and history accessible to all? If so, you could become a Collections and House Officer at Ormesby Hall, bringing to life the history and significance of this much-loved place. You'll be required to work weekends and occasional evenings. The advertised salary for this role will be in effect from 1st April. What it's like to work here You’ll be leading a team of two collections assistants and a group of dedicated volunteers to keep Ormesby and its collections looking their best. You’ll be part of the Property Leadership Team and will take on duty manager shifts. You'll be responsible on the day for the smooth running of the property during opening hours, acting as the main contact point for staff, volunteers, and customers in case of emergency, enquiry or complaint. You'll work closely with the Visitor Experience Team on upcoming displays and programming, providing advice and suggestions and helping to create experiences. Ormesby Hall is a listed Georgian Mansion set amongst 280 acres of gardens, park and farmland in the heart of Middlesbrough. It houses a collection of over 6000 objects telling the story of the Pennyman family. With changing seasonal programming and a busy events calendar, it’s a popular place for our local communities. What you'll be doing As the Collections and House Officer, you’ll lead a team of two collections assistants taking responsibility for the day to day opening of the house. You’ll ensure the house is ready for the public and presented to a high standard to give visitors a consistently good experience. Supervised by a Collections and House Manager, you'll be responsible for routine conservation, preventive conservation and the annual programme of deep cleaning. Your attention and expertise will help to ensure excellent standards of care throughout the house. You'll collect and record information gathered during cleaning and housekeeping; to improve our knowledge and understanding of the house and all that’s in it. You’ll use preventive conservation methods to improve how we look after everything, and how we present it to visitors.
