1:1 Learning Support Assistant (LSA) for KS4 Pupil We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and experienced 1:1 Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to support a KS4 pupil with a range of specific needs. This position will be a critical role in the student’s education, providing tailored support and guidance to help them re-engage in their learning journey. Student Profile: Key Stage: KS4 Support Needs: The student has a recent ADHD diagnosis, with a weak reading and spelling age, and has experienced difficulties with social interaction. EHCP (Education, Health, and Care Plan): The EHCP is in progress and will soon be in place to support their educational needs. Key Responsibilities: Provide 1:1 support to the student, working closely to assist with their academic tasks, specifically focusing on literacy, reading, and spelling. Help the student with emotional and social development, guiding them through positive interactions with peers and staff. Support the student’s reduced timetable, which will begin at 2 hours per day and increase gradually to 3, then 4, and eventually full-time. Foster a firm but fair approach to managing behaviour, establishing clear boundaries and expectations. Build a positive relationship with the student, gaining trust and encouraging their confidence and self-esteem. Help the student navigate challenges within the classroom environment, encouraging engagement in lessons and creating an inclusive atmosphere. Monitor progress and provide regular updates to the school team, looking for opportunities to support the student’s journey towards Transition to Post-16 (T2P) if the relationship and progress are successful. Ideal Candidate: Experience working with students with ADHD and other learning challenges. Ability to support social and emotional development in a calm, empathetic, and structured way. Understanding of how to implement strategies to help students with low attainment, particularly in literacy. Strong communication skills to collaborate with teachers, parents, and other support staff. Patience, resilience, and the ability to build rapport with students facing significant barriers to learning. A firm but fair approach to managing challenging behaviour. Previous experience with phased returns to school or supporting students who have been excluded is desirable but not essential. Working Hours & Salary: Hourly Rate: Competitive and commensurate with experience Hours: Starting at 2 hours per day, increasing to 3, then 4, with the potential for a full-time role as progress is made.
