Job Title: Respiratory Therapist Job Specialty: Respiratory Therapy Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour nights Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week Experience: A minimum of 18 months of recent respiratory therapy experience in an acute care facility, with 3 years preferred License: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) licensure and/or a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credentialed by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) Certifications: - Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider CPR required - Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required prior to start - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required prior to start - Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Must-Have: - Graduation from an accredited school of respiratory therapy - An Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited college Job Description: - Coordinate the care of patients with physicians, nurses, families, and other caregivers. - Assess, recommend, and follow a pathway of therapy, which may include invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation, airway management, intubation assistance, and high and low flow humidification. - Administer medication, oxygen therapy, incentive spirometry, PEP therapy, coughing and breathing exercises, chest physical therapy, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, and patient education, including smoking cessation. - Obtain and document diagnostic data such as arterial blood gases, co-oximetry, pulmonary function, cardiac stress testing, cardiac event monitoring, pulse oximetry and desaturation studies, and ECGs. - Utilize computerized charting and standardized medical software. - Provide support and education to patient families/caregivers dealing with acute and chronic respiratory conditions and their psychosocial aspects. - Be comfortable working alone on the night shift and stabilizing an infant if needed, with acute needs being medivacked out.
