Job Description Job Description Job description The Mobile Diesel Mechanic is responsible for performing maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and inspections on medium and heavy-duty fleet vehicles at customer locations or on-site. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently in the field. The Mechanic will travel to various locations to service fleet vehicles, heavy equipment, and other diesel-powered machinery. Key Responsibilities: Maintenance and Repairs: Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication. Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, brake, electrical, hydraulic, and cooling systems. Conduct inspections and identify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues. Replace or repair faulty parts, such as fuel injectors, turbochargers, and exhaust systems. Diagnostics: Use diagnostic tools and software to troubleshoot and identify issues. Interpret diagnostic codes and perform necessary repairs. Test and verify repairs to ensure proper functionality. Field Service: Travel to customer locations to perform on-site repairs and maintenance. Operate a service vehicle equipped with tools and parts necessary for field repairs. Communicate with customers to explain repairs and provide cost estimates. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of services performed, parts used, and time spent on each job. Complete work orders, inspection reports, and other required documentation. Safety and Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Adhere to federal, state, and local regulations, including emissions standards. Ensure all repairs and maintenance comply with manufacturer specifications. Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service by addressing customer concerns and answering questions. Build and maintain positive relationships with customers. Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a diesel technology program or apprenticeship is preferred. Experience: 5 years of experience as a diesel technician Certifications: ASE certification or manufacturer-specific certifications are a plus. Technical Skills: Proficient in using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and power tools. Knowledge of diesel and gas engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy equipment (50 lbs), stand for long periods, and work in various weather conditions. Licenses: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently. Benefits: $30 to $45 per hour with potential for overtime. Health insurance.
