Job Description Job Description Salary: Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Reports To: Clinic Manager / Providers Job Summary: The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced medical clinic setting. This individual will assist healthcare providers with direct patient care, including collecting vitals, triaging patients, performing blood draws, administering medications, and documenting patient information accurately. The LPN will ensure the clinic runs smoothly by following protocols, maintaining patient safety, and providing compassionate care to all individuals. Key Responsibilities: Patient Care & Clinical Duties: Assist providers with patient assessments, examinations, and procedures. Collect and document patient vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, heart rate, respiration, and weight. Triage patients based on symptoms, medical history, and provider urgency. Perform blood draws and prepare specimens for lab testing. Administer injections, vaccines, and medications as prescribed by the provider. Perform wound care, dressing changes, and other minor medical treatments. Assist with EKGs, spirometry, ear lavage, and other diagnostic tests. Provide patient education on medications, chronic disease management, and post-procedure care. Ensure infection control protocols are followed, including sterilization of equipment and proper disposal of biohazard materials. Charting & Documentation: Accurately document patient encounters, treatments, and procedures in the electronic medical record (EMR) system. Maintain up-to-date and organized patient charts, ensuring all required information is recorded. Obtain and update patient medical history, allergies, and medication lists. Complete required documentation for insurance, referrals, and prior authorizations. Clinic Operations & Support: Prepare examination rooms by stocking supplies, disinfecting surfaces, and ensuring readiness for patient visits. Assist with scheduling follow-up appointments, referrals, and diagnostic testing as needed. Monitor inventory of medical supplies and request restocking as necessary. Support clinic staff in maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient work environment. Collaborate with the healthcare team, including physicians, nurse practitioners, medical assistants, and front desk staff, to optimize patient care. Patient Interaction & Communication: Greet and interact with patients professionally and compassionately. Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families. Address patient inquiries regarding medical treatments, medications, and follow-up care. Educate patients on wellness and preventive care strategies. Compliance & Safety: Adhere to all clinic policies, procedures, and HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality. Maintain compliance with OSHA and infection control standards. Participate in ongoing training and professional development as required. Follow state and federal nursing regulations and scope of practice for LPNs. Qualifications & Requirements: Current and valid LPN license in NC. Graduation from an accredited practical nursing program . CPR/BLS certification (required or must be obtained upon hire). Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a medical clinic, urgent care, or primary care setting (preferred). Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems. Strong understanding of medical terminology, pharmacology, and clinical procedures. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Work Environment & Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods during shifts. Ability to lift and position patients as needed.
