Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator I, II, III

Opening Date: 11-18-2024 Wage: Operator I $21.76 - $32.64 hourly, Operator II $24.02 - $36.02 hourly, Operator III $25.86 - $38.80 hourly (Full Range) JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining wastewater treatment plant systems and related equipment to ensure proper operations. Controls wastewater treatment plant operations in accordance with all established regulations, standards, and procedures. Performs inspection, operation, and maintenance of lift stations, electrical controls, pumps, devices, and valves. Performs scheduled preventive maintenance. Performs and documents compliance with testing processes, calculations, and formulas. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is generally performed in an outdoor environment; work schedule is generally M-Fri, 6:00am – 2:30pm and may be subject to change. Work may involve moderate to heavy work in all types of weather. Employees in this position will need to stand, stoop, walk, occasionally lift to 100 pounds and/or heavy objects and may perform other similar actions during the workday. EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING REQUIRED: High school diploma or GED. Must have and maintain a valid Arizona Driver’s License CDL Class A with Air Brake Endorsement or the ability to obtain within one (1) year from date of hire. OPERATOR I: six (6) months to one (1) year relevant work experience and/or training. Required: Must have ADEQ Grade I Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator. ADEQ Grade I Wastewater Collection within one (1) year of employment. Preferred: ADEQ Grade II Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator. ADEQ Grade I Wastewater Collections. ADEQ Grade I Water Distribution and Treatment. OPERATOR II: one (1) to two (2) years relevant work experience and/or training. Required: Must have ADEQ Grade II Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator, ADEQ Grade II Wastewater Collections within one (1) year of employment. Preferred: ADEQ Grade II Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator. ADEQ Grade II Wastewater Collections. ADEQ Grade I Water Distribution and Treatment. OPERATOR III: three (3) years relevant work experience operating in an ADEQ Grade III wastewater treatment plant. Required: ADEQ Grade III Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator. ADEQ Grade III Wastewater Collections. Preferred: two (2) years’ experience in an ADEQ Grade IV water treatment plant with one (1) year experience as a Grade III Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator.
