Job Description The ideal team player will be responsible to diagnose and repair mechanical faults of diesel vehicles as well as conduct their routine maintenance in alignment with predefined work objectives (as per agreed standard operating procedures). Requirements Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 Equivalent. QCTO Qualified Diesel Mechanic. A minimum of 5 years experience as a Diesel Technician post Trade Test. Code B Driving License required (Code EC preferred). The applicant should be in a good physical condition, an independent worker, self-motivated, able to work under pressure and without supervision. Position requires willingness to work long hours, incl. weekends when requested as well as overtime needed for breakdowns in 24 hours shifts. Microsoft office Literate Duties and Responsibilities Attend and or lead of daily planning meetings. Respond and communicate on WhatsApp maintenance group, with regards to repair requests and breakdowns. Inspect, test, and listen to defective engines/parts to diagnose malfunctions. Repair the fault using existing parts where possible. Replace broken parts with new and reconditioned parts. Troubleshoot of hydraulic systems of Front loaders and Forklifts. Troubleshoot of engines, transmissions and differentials. Troubleshoot of electrical wiring of vehicles. Retest vehicles to ensure problem has been repaired. Keep accurate records of faults identified and repairs done to vehicles. Conduct routine maintenance checks on vehicles according to the relevant standard operating procedure. Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery. Examine and adjust protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices. Identify any mechanical problems and obtain authorization to carry out the necessary repairs whilst conducting these routine checks. Note wear patterns and make maintenance recommendations. Maintain of preventative maintenance procedures to minimize breakdowns. Keep accurate and detailed records of preventative maintenance checks and repairs completed. Carry out root cause analysis of breakdowns to stop re-occurrence of faults. Ensure all work is carried according to SHEQ and company standards. Ensure vehicle/equipment safety procedures are followed to avoid damage to engine components. Operate equipment and carry out all duties in a safe manner. Order of spare parts from spares shop. Maintain clean and organized of work areas and tools. Mentor of mechanical assistants and even train apprentices. Completion of timesheets for jobs completed. Completion and update date maintain of ISO checklists. Maintain good utilisation of job hours. Maintain equipment, protective clothing and work areas in a clean, tidy and safe condition. Any other ad hoc duties as may be required by management, which may include, but not limited to, housekeeping of garden and site, general site housekeeping, painting of infrastructure etc. Skills Required Knowledge of health and safety procedures (PPE).
