Job Description
Minimum Requirements: Grade 12. Drivers License. Diploma / Degree in Procurement or Supply Chain Management. 3- 5 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, or inventory management. Experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment is highly advantageous. Strong negotiation and supplier management skills. Proficiency in ERP system, Syspro advantageous. Intermediary knowledge in Ms Office packages (e.g. Excel, Word, Outlook etc.). Key Performance Areas: Supplier Sourcing : Identify and establish relationships with suppliers and vendors for consumables. Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and contracts with suppliers to secure the best deals, monitor Suppliers for special offers. Maintain supplier performance and resolve any issues or disputes that may arise. Evaluate and select suppliers based on quality, reliability, and compliance with regulatory requirements. Stay informed about competitor pricing and market trends to ensure competitive purchasing. Sourcing new products and new suppliers for buyouts items on external and internal clients requests. Purchasing and Order: Place orders for consumables based on demand forecasts and inventory levels. Monitor and track orders to ensure timely delivery and minimize any disruptions to warehouse operations. Manage purchase orders, reviewing, updating or cancelling them as needed to ensure accuracy. Receipting of stock into system. Marching of PO, delivery note, GRN and Invoice and submit to creditors department for processing and payment. Inventory Control: Work closely with inventory and warehouse teams to maintain optimal stock levels. Ensure that all consumable products are stored according to safety standards and inventory management practices. Monitor stock rotation and expiry dates. Forecasting and Planning: Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., production, operations) to forecast demand for chemicals and other materials. Develop and maintain long-term supply plans to ensure the warehouse always has the required consumables in stock. Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all procurement transactions, including orders, invoices, and supplier communications. Provide regular reports on procurement activities, supplier performance, and inventory levels to management. Collaboration and Coordination: Coordinate with various departments such as logistics, quality control, and production to ensure smooth operations. Provide support for troubleshooting supply chain issues and identifying opportunities for improvement. Cost Control and Budget: Monitor procurement expenditures and maintain spending within budget guidelines. Look for cost-saving opportunities, negotiate favourable pricing, and implement strategies to reduce overall procurement costs without compromising quality. Conduct market research and analyse trends in consumable prices to make informed purchasing decisions. Supplier & Product Evaluation: Evaluate suppliers based on criteria such as reliability, quality, delivery timelines, and cost-efficiency.
