Assistant Surveyor

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an assistant surveyor to join our commercial team in Caterham. You will assist with Commercial management of residential housing schemes, with a focus on procurement, payments and day to day running of a project. Ensuring the Company achieves value for money, whilst continuing to deliver 5-star quality housing. Some of your key responsibilities: Be fully conversant and comply with the procedures as set out for the Commercial Department. Attend pre-starts with Senior Surveyor and preparation of subcontract orders following sign off. Working closely with the project team, with regular site visits to monitor sub-contractor performance and works completed so valuations/applications can be checked for accuracy. Ensure invoices/applications received by the sub-contractors are reviewed and approved ready for payment in line with contractual terms using COINS system. Review of any variation works with the Senior Surveyor. Assist with the preparation and agreement of sub-contract final accounts. Assisting with monthly CVR reporting. Good understanding of the build cost process and forecasting throughout the project. Requirements: HNC qualified at least or enrolled in course. Approximately 1-2 years relevant work experience preferred, but recent graduate could perform the role. Excellent IT skills (good working knowledge of MS excel and spreadsheets) Excellent numerical skills and an understanding of financial management. Analytical mind and methodical approach. Good construction knowledge. Experience of Coins desirable, but not essential.
