Job Description An opportunity has arisen within Neighbourhoods, Regeneration and Sustainability for a Mechanic to join our Fleet Maintenance team on a permanent basis. NRS brings together a diverse range of Glasgow City Council operational, technical and development services that focus on sustainable transport, place making and delivering essential city services. Position Details You must be a fully qualified Mechanic who has completed a recognised apprenticeship to C&G, Scotvec, or equivalent standard and hold a current LGC category C driving licence or be willing to gain this within your first 12 months of employment. The Mechanic role is responsible for the service, maintenance, and repair of the Glasgow City Council fleet of vehicles to DVSA and Health and Safety standards and for the completion of all relevant associated paperwork. You will also attend breakdowns as and when required. A current knowledge of vehicle systems, including electric vehicles, and the legal requirements with regard to vehicle condition to MOT standard is essential. As are good communication, organisational, diagnostic/report writing skills, the ability to work to tight time schedules, to work on own initiative and as part of a team. Contract Details Weekly Hours: 37 hours per week Work Pattern: rotational 2-shift system of Dayshifts (8am – 4:30pm Monday to Thursday and 8am – 1:30pm Friday) and Backshifts (1pm – 9:30pm Monday to Thursday and 12noon – 5:30pm Friday). Operational hours are subject to review and may change. Annual Salary: £29,751.95 - £33,585.88 on an incremental scale Additional Payments: In addition to the annual salary the role attracts a working context & demand (WCD) payment of £892 per annum, and a non-standard work pattern/hours (NSWPH) payment of £2,091 per annum.
