Job Description

The Village of Lombard is seeking a Private Engineering Services Intern. This position will perform field inspections of privately and publicly owned detention ponds, prepare correspondences to the pond owners, develop and schedule to follow-up with pond owners to verify the completion of necessary improvements and update and maintain the pond inspection database. The position requires:

1. The ability to effectively write and speak clearly to staff and the general public.
2. Appropriate interpersonal skills for business and public contact.
3. Competencies in personal computers in a Windows environment and ability to utilize Village software applications.
4. The ability to work independently and in the absence of supervision.

The Village is seeking help through the Summer of up to 40 hours per week. The hourly wage rate would be $16.00-$18.00/hour, based upon qualifications. The anticipated start date and work hours can be flexible based upon school schedules.

Position will remain open until filled and hiring will be expedited for the right candidate.

Job Requirements

The successful candidate will have good communication skills, basic knowledge of hydrology and storm water detention systems, and possess a valid driver’s license. Should be enrolled in an accredited civil engineering college curriculum and have earned a minimum 24 credit hours or equivalent by the start of employment.
