Job Description


Technical Sales Manager - Polymers role, based in West Midlands. Requiring a degree in Chemistry (or similar), as well as a desire to work in a commercial environment, with commercial experience desirable but not essential. Candidates who are looking to transition from a laboratory-based role are encouraged to apply, as are recent Chemistry graduates.

Title: Technical Sales Manager - Polymers

Location: West Midlands

Salary: £26,000 - £35,000 (dependent on experience) + commission

SRG are working with a leading chemicals distribution company, supplying raw materials such as additives, pigments, minerals and catalysts into a range of polymer markets. They have built up strong relationships with a number of leading chemical manufacturers and a large portfolio of speciality products. They are now looking to hire a Technical Sales Manager - Polymers on a permanent basis at their site in West Midlands, with travel expected. This role will suit candidates with proven experience within a technical sales role, although applications are welcome from candidates with strong technical knowledge in polymers currently in a laboratory based, as well as recent chemistry graduates passionate about moving into technical sales.

Role / Description

  • Account management - maintaining and developing strong relationships with existing customers,
    • This includes responsibility for several industry groups, primarily in the field of polymers (thermoplastics, rubber, thermosets, composites)
  • Source new sales opportunities through responding to and qualifying inbound leads
  • Identify new business opportunities through prospecting and market research
  • Support the marketing strategy by producing engaging technical articles and multimedia

Requirements

  • Minimum degree in Chemistry or similar
  • An interest in sales, business development or customer-facing roles
  • Experience in business development/commercial experience is highly desirable
  • Full UK Driving Licence and willing to travel regularly
  • Confident with excellent communication and writing skills
