JOB OVERVIEW The Prospect Research Officer will deliver decision-ready information to support fundraising and targeted campaigns at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation. This position will have responsibilities for identifying donor prospects, qualifying, and quantifying the potential donor and deciding where they fit in the donor lifeline. This research role is a key part of the Foundation team to grow philanthropic support for the GPRHF. GENERAL DESCRIPTION The Prospect Research Officer is a 1.0 FTE position approximately 40 hours per week. Schedule varies with foundation activities. Some evening, weekends and extended days are required. This individual contributes significantly to the long-term fund development success of the GPRHF and is a key tactician in supporting our fund development officers and their activities. They report directly to the Director of Operations. They are a key driver in the advancement and success of the Foundation’s ability to meet the fund development objectives of our strategic goal pillars. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES · Provide donor recommendations and information to support fundraising approaches, strategies, tactics, and proposals that drive decisions and actions. Discover and evaluate prospective donors and their interests, relationships, inclination to give, philanthropic capacity, corporate and social connections, and potential risks. Conduct targeted tactical philanthropy prospect research. Maintain Pipeline to Lifeline lists for multiple campaigns and fund development officers. Write reports and financial summaries to support the cultivation and solicitation of donor prospects. Identify individuals and organizations with potential to make gifts and suggest opportunities to engage with them. Develop an understanding of GPRHF fundraising priorities. Database and research platform management and maintenance. Understand key information sources including property records, corporate and news databases, social media platforms, and constituent/customer database systems. Knowledge of development, the donor lifecycle and engagement activities. Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage a diverse range of assignments/projects with high efficiency, attention to detail and follow-through. Analyze and interpret complex business and financial data, recognize relevant connections, and interpret patterns. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Maintain a high level of discretion with sensitive and confidential information. Committed to ethical fundraising and research practices. Computer savvy. Proficient in word processing, email, spreadsheets, and web/database searches. Resourceful and independent, yet able to work as part of a team and contribute to shared objectives. Other responsibilities as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE • Minimum 1 – 2 years working in a philanthropic role an asset. • Philanthropy prospect research or market research experience an asset. • Previous or current member of AHP, APRA and CAGP an asset. • Experience with DonorPerfect, CrowdChange, iWave, Azeus Convene, and Microsoft Office an asset. • The successful candidate should be highly organized, able to prioritize multiple projects and competing priorities effectively and work independently in a fast-paced environment; team player who works well in a multi cross-functional team.
