The Role


Reporting to the Head of Marketing and Communications, the successful candidate will play an integral role within our (small but mighty) marketing team, with particular emphasis on social media management, short-form video content creating, copywriting, proof reading, planning/attending events and website maintenance/ admin. As such they should have a good working knowledge of the industry, combined with degree level and/or at least 2 years of relevant experience in a marketing role.


Our ideal candidate will be fun, focused, flexible and self-motivated with creative flair, have great interpersonal skills, excellent written and oral skills and a real sense of fun and familiarity with our brand. Highly organised, with the ability to meet deadlines whilst applying heightened attention to detail. You should be able to intuitively run social channels (including Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X and LinkedIn), offering great customer service whilst maintaining Fat Hippo’s distinct tone of voice and create on-brand content of your own accord. A strong knowledge of our brand is therefore essential.


You will be comfortable with digital admin duties and able to communicate in all formats with customers, staff and suppliers. You should be keen to help out wherever needed and be able to troubleshoot calmly.


Key Responsibilities


• Running and maintaining all social media channels, scheduling content across platforms in the correct brand tone of voice, optimising posting times for high engagement which retains our current community and also builds new followers.

• Monitor and moderate all comments, messages and engagement across the full range of social media channels, responding to messages/reviews and remaining reactive occasionally outside of office hours.

• Creating short form video content on shoots as well as post production editing.

• Copywriting and proofreading blogs, press releases, adverts, e-shots, etc.

• Planning, organising and attending new site launches around the UK when required.

• Liaising with press/media/bloggers/influencers to maintain relationships and manage opportunities.

• Monitoring emails and completing general admin tasks.


Ideal Candidate


• Outgoing, confident and great interpersonal skills with a real sense of fun and familiarity with our brand.

• Experience of successfully running, maintaining and growing business social media channels with an understanding of what content works on which channels.

• Proactive approach to staying on top of social media innovation and trends making recommendations where relevant to brand and strategy.

• Skilled in the creation and postproduction of short form video, with a good eye for quality content.

• Strong communicator with excellent written and oral skills, highly organised and able to work in a team environment to work collaboratively in order to achieve results.

• Good initiative, focussed and self-motivated – a tenacious individual with desire to go extra mile and demonstrate commitment, hungry to develop and grow within the role.

• Ability to work on own initiative without the requirement for close continuous supervision, establishing good working relationships with people at all levels.

• Comfortable working within a pressurised environment to achieve key deadlines paired with a heightened attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.

• Flexible to work outside of usual office hours, remotely, as well as occasionally on-site in a restaurant environment when required.

• Happy to travel within the UK to meet business needs.

• Experience of working closely with influencers and media.

• Knowledge of – and a passion for food! Eating/dining out with an understanding of our target market and industry competitors
