Market Access and Policy Director, Europe and Canada (EUCAN)

The Opportunity and The Purpose of the Position

The ideal candidate for this role should possess strong communication skills, diplomatic acumen, and a deep understanding of pricing and reimbursement (P&R) and health economics and outcomes research (HEOR). Additionally, commercial savvy and the ability to collaborate effectively with the Head of the EUCAN region and the broader leadership team are essential. The strategic focus includes shaping markets in the EUCAN region for upcoming therapies and maximizing the success of the current portfolio.


From a personal perspective, the ideal candidate should demonstrate compassion, empathy, and a thorough understanding of patients’ needs.


The key objective of the role is to lead the development and execution of EUCAN Pricing & Reimbursement strategies, together with policy shaping strategies to ensure optimal patient access to treatment. These key strategies are developed in alignment with global and EUCAN business objectives during development, launch and life cycle management of the portfolio.


The role will have direct responsibility for building and maintaining a network of influential stakeholders (Market Access experts & advisers, payers, advocacy groups, EUCAN institutions & policy makers) at EU & Canada level, while delivering Area-wide Market Access and Policy initiatives that will support the achievement of the EUCAN business strategy.


The role has dotted line responsibility for local Market Access and Policy team members to ensure effective execution of local strategies.


The scope of the role encompasses all countries within the EUCAN Area, the position holder will be a member of the EUCAN Leadership Team.


This a role where the incumbent can build and shape the value proposition for new 1st in Class medicines and drive patient advocacy across geographies and various stakeholders. It is a broad role with a wide scope. Being able to relate to the stigma some patients experience when in treatment will be key.


The Candidate

Field of Study: Health Economics or related fields

Education: Graduate degree or equivalent; MD, PhD, MSc (Health Economics) preferred

Industry: Pharmaceutical, Life sciences


Experience:

  • 10+ years of relevant pharmaceutical industry experience, including leadership roles in areas such as market access, pricing, health economics and outcomes research (must have).
  • Proven track record of devising Pricing and Reimbursement and market access strategies.
  • Hands on experience in negotiating reimbursement with public payers across EUCAN.
  • Experience of above country level / international, multi-lingual, and cross-functional organizational matrices within a diverse and cross-cultural work environment.
  • Experience in post-launch local payer negotiation support and life cycle management pricing.


ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE:

  • Market Access and P&R: An excellent understanding and deep knowledge of pricing & reimbursement systems, legislative, political, regulatory landscape, and processes in the core EU & Canada countries.
  • HEOR: Solid understanding and expertise in Health Economics, HEOR and management of the development of health Economic models.
  • Value Narrative Development (Core Value Dossiers).
  • HTA: Submission and negotiation expertise with Key Authorities (e.g., AIFA, HAS NICE, TLV, CADTH…).
  • Pricing strategy: Price corridor development and International Reference pricing expertise.
  • Multi-stakeholders’ approach: Demonstrable experience of establishing and building an influential stakeholder network.
  • Commercial drive and experience.
  • Leadership: experience in managing.

Desirable:

  • Government affairs, Public Affairs, Policy change experience.
