Job Description

Picker Supply Chain Job Purpose To accurately and efficiently pick and build up pallets for break bulk distribution, ensuring high standards of inventory management, quality control, and customer service. The role supports the companys performance goals through effective order fulfillment, reliability, and operational efficiency. Key Accountabilities and Outputs Order Accuracy and Fulfillment Accurately pick items according to customer orders and build up pallets to meet break bulk requirements. Ensure all orders are picked and prepared for dispatch within the required timeframes. Maintain a high level of accuracy in picking and palletizing, minimizing errors to ensure customer satisfaction. Health, Safety, and Environment Adhere to safety standards while performing manual tasks, such as lifting and palletizing. Follow established safety protocols to prevent workplace injuries, especially when handling heavy or bulk items. Ensure the work area is kept clean and organized, reducing the risk of accidents and ensuring a safe working environment. Stock Management and Inventory Control Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments to resolve issues that may impact order fulfillment. Provide feedback on operational challenges that could affect customer satisfaction and work collaboratively to find solutions. Apply stock rotation principles to maintain the quality and age of items being picked. Perform quality checks on products before picking to ensure they meet the required standards. Participate in regular inventory counts and assist in resolving any discrepancies. Maintain effective communication with inventory control and warehouse management to ensure smooth operations. Efficiency and Continuous Improvement Work to improve picking speed and accuracy while maintaining the quality of work. Identify opportunities for process improvements within the picking and palletizing workflow. Participate in training sessions and contribute to the development of best practices for order fulfillment. Customer Service and Communication Ensure that all picked orders meet customer specifications and are prepared for on-time delivery. Routine Responsibilities: Pick and assemble pallets according to order specifications. Ensure pallets are correctly labeled and ready for dispatch. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the picking area. Report any issues with stock levels, product quality, or equipment to the supervisor. Qualifications and Experience Grade 12 / Matric / NQF level 4 (Essential) Up to 6 months of experience in FMCG, Distribution, or Warehousing environments. Basic knowledge of inventory management and warehouse operations Key Qualities Attention to Detail: Ensure accuracy in picking and assembling orders to minimize errors and returns. Physical Stamina: Ability to perform manual tasks such as lifting and moving heavy items throughout the shift. Problem Solving: Proactively identify issues in the picking process and escalate or resolve them promptly. Team Collaboration: Work effectively within a team to meet collective goals and maintain a smooth workflow. Continuous Improvement: Engage in ongoing learning and improvement to enhance performance and efficiency.
