The BLM manages 245 million surface acres. This land, known as the National System of Public Lands, is primarily located in 12 Western States, including Alaska. We are a small bureau with a big and complex job, determining the best combination of uses for public lands based on good science and input from the public both in local communities and across the country. The BLM's multiple-use mission is to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of the public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations. Final application disposition will be completed once all positions have been filled or the announcement reaches the end of the open period as stated above. Applications will expire 90 days after submission. To be eligible, an applicant must: Internship Program Be at least 16 years of age or older for a non-arduous or non-hazardous duty position. A student accepted for enrollment or enrolled in a degree or certificate program on a full- or half-time basis as defined by the school (certificate program means post-secondary education, in a qualifying educational institution, equivalent to at least one academic year of full-time study that is part of an accredited college-level, technical, trade, vocational, or business school curriculum);You must upload an unofficial copy of your transcripts. AND Enrollment is with a qualifying educational institution such as a high school or state-approved homeschool; or accredited technical or vocational school; a 2- or 4-year college or university; a graduate or professional school (e.g., law school, medical school); or a post-secondary home school curriculum. AND Students currently enrolled must be in good academic standing maintaining a 2.5 grade point average on a cumulative basis; You must upload an enrollment letter from your educational institution(Whether you are new or currently enrolled).ANDYou must continue to meet these eligibility requirements throughout the duration of your appointment under the Pathways Internship Program.In order to assess you meet a qualified status for this position and to refer you to the hiring manager, the agency must be able to determine that you meet the qualifications based on completed education (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED). Please be sure to include this information in your resume. For GS-04: You may qualify based on completion of 2 full academic years (60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours) of post-high school study. For GS-05 You may qualify based on completion of four years academic post high scho0l study (undergraduate) leading to a bachelors or equivalent degree. You must meet all eligibility and qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement. The agency may noncompetitively convert a Career/Indefinite Intern who is a U. S. citizen to a term or permanent appointment in the competitive service, as long as the Intern meets all agency program requirements and the Off ice of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for the target occupational series at the time of completing all education requirements. CONVERSION ELIGIBILITY:I Interns may be converted, without a break in service, to a term, career or career conditional appointment upon completion of program requirements. To be eligible for conversion, Interns must: Be a US Citizen Complete at least 640 hours of work experience acquired through the Internship Program Complete their degree or certificate requirements Meet the qualification standards for the position to which the Intern will be converted Meet agency-specific requirements as specified in the Participant's Agreement Perform their job successfully CAUTION FOR STUDENTS IN THEIR FINAL YEAR: Students that are graduating and are not subsequently enrolled in another program might not meet the work-hour requirements prior to graduation and will be at risk for not being able to convert to a career or career-conditional appointment. Academic Year: At the undergraduate level, 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours is comparable to 1 year of undergraduate education. Four years of progressive study or 120 semester hours meets the degree requirements. At the graduate level, 18 semester hours or 27 quarter hours.Agencies may waive up to 320 of the required 640 hours of work for Interns who demonstrate high potential as evidenced by outstanding academic achievement and exceptional job performance. In addition, students working in agencies through third-party intern providers may count up to 320 of the hours they work toward the 640 hour requirement. Time spent under previous Internship Program appointments may count towards required work. This position has eligibility to be converted to a term or perm appointment in the competitive service. Interns must meet the qualification requirements for the position to which converted. If converted to a permanent or term appointment, the anticipated target position will be a full performance level up to a GS-12, the target position and full performance level may change based on the need of the organization at that time. Interns must meet the qualification requirements for the position to which converted. Extensions: This appointment may be extended without further competition based on the need of the organization for the work to continue and provided the individual continues to meet the eligibility requirements.
