Position Summary The RN demonstrates professional development and clinical competency, utilizes the nursing process to assess plan, implement and evaluate patient care, addresses health educational needs for patients and families, and other health care providers, manages patient care assignments as well as other organizational tasks related to patient unit operations and acts in a clinical leadership role in the coordination of patient care for all assigned patients. Reporting to the Clinical Manager, Palliative and Complex Care, C7, the successful applicant will be responsible for comprehensive nursing care in the Palliative Complex Care program and must meet the following criteria This is a temporary full-time opportunity for 14 months. Mandatory Qualifications Graduate of an accredited college or university nursing program Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification Two (2) years’ experience in a complex continuing care, geriatric nursing or rehabilitation setting Rehabilitation, Gerontology or Palliative Care Certificate Able to perform I.V. starts and venipuncture Knowledge and understanding of Continuing Care reporting systems (CCR), Resident Assessment Instrument(RAI) and Minimum Data Set (MDS) Mandatory Competencies Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with a team focus Self-directed individual with the ability to work both independently and within an inter professional team Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and professionalism in nursing Creative problem solver with a customer focus and patient friendly approach Proven critical thinking skills Ability to multitask and set priorities in a rapidly changing environment Well-developed negotiation and conflict resolution skills Ability to establish work relationships with external partners Excellent patient assessment skills Reliable individual with excellent attendance record Preferred Competencies Additional postgraduate Non Violent Crisis Intervention courses Experience in patient teaching Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification Accommodation The Brant Community Healthcare System (BCHS) is an equal opportunity employer, committed to employment equity and diversity in the workplace.
