TIGTA Recent Graduates Program affords developmental experiences in the Federal Government intended to promote possible careers in the civil service to individuals who have recently graduated or are within 9 months from graduating from qualifying educational institutions or programs. Successful applicants are placed in a dynamic, developmental program with the potential to lead to a civil service career in the Federal Government.

Job Requirements

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. To be eligible for the Recent Graduates Program, applicants must have, within the previous 2 years*, completed all educational requirements for a qualifying associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying institution; or intended graduation is no more than 9 months from date of application. (However, you must graduate prior to being appointed to the position.) if applicable. For more information on education requirements go to Treasury's Pathways Program. *Veterans who, due to a military service obligation, were precluded from applying to a Recent Graduates Program during any portion of the 2 year eligibility period may have their eligibility period extended so that they receive the full 2 years of eligibility. The remaining 2-year eligibility period will begin upon his or her release or discharge from active duty. The veteran's eligibility period may not extend beyond 6 years from the date of completion of all requirements of an academic course of study. For the GS-09, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the federal service or equivalent qualifying educational accomplishment. Specialized experience for this position could include: Experience in applying accounting and auditing principles, concepts and techniques to assess risk and develop an audit strategy; AND Experience gathering and analyzing facts/data and draw conclusions OR 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Master's degree or equivalent graduate degree (or will attain within 9 months of application). Attach a copy of transcripts or list of college courses designating semester or quarter hours earned to ensure proper credit. OR You may qualify on a combination of education and experience. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100 percent. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 18 semester hours (27 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education. For the GS-07, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal service or equivalent qualifying educational accomplishment. Specialized experience for this position could include: Experience in applying accounting and auditing principles, concepts and techniques to gather and analyze facts/data; AND Experience organizing results of analysis to meet professional standards. OR You may qualify based solely on education as follows: 1 year of graduate-level education or superior academic achievement based on a bachelor's degree that is demonstrated through class standing (upper 1/3 of class); grade point average (3.0/4.0 overall or 3.5/4.0 in major), or election to membership in a qualifying national scholastic honor society (or will attain within 9 months of application). OR You may qualify on a combination of education and experience. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100 percent.
