Job Description

The position of the Loss of Entitlement Officer (LOEO) plays a vital role in ensuring the Notice to Quit (NTQ) process is followed and Service Family Accommodation (SFA) is handed back in line with policy when requested to issue the NTQ from either Lazurite Team, Pinnacle sublet team or DIO Accommodation Plans and Requirements. This enables SFA to be returned to DIO for further allocation or disposal.

Assist the LOE team to issue Notice to Vacates (NTV), following the correct processes to ensure the SFA is handed back at the earliest opportunity to minimise any accrual of debt. Manage colleagues cases when they are away from the office.

Due to the legal aspect of this role and the key element of customer service, the successful candidate will need strong attention to detail, problem solving skills, good written and verbal communication, and strong organisational skills.

The candidate with need to be adept at using common software applications, navigating operating systems, managing files and folders and utilising intranet browsers.

Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by Chain of Command.

Person specification

Responsibilities include:
Receiving and responding to telephone enquiries and correspondence from occupants/Welfare Agencies/Local Authorities/other DIO / Industry Partner / MOD teams / Military Chain of Command and Welfare ensuring no GDPR breaches.
Issuing NTQs ensuring legal process is initiated in accordance with guidance from Solicitors.
  • Issuing Notice to Vacates ensuring legal process is initiated in accordance with guidance from Central Legal Services.
  • Calculate and raise charges for use and occupation in Service Families Accommodation and inform occupants and the Home Charging Team of charges.
    Input relevant information onto Information Management System (IMS) and end service pay deductions on Joint Personnel Administration (JPA).
    Issue supplementary documentation at appropriate dates, including cessation of entitlement certificates and proportionality assessments.
    Preparation of legal paperwork and liaison with Solicitors over all issues relating to court action, Orders for Possession and warrants for eviction.

Employment Hours:
  • The post advertised is for 37 hours net, however the Ministry of Defence offers a range of flexibilities to enable a better work-life balance for employees. Flexible working, Part-time working and Job Share working patterns will be considered.

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance. The post does not offer relocation expenses.

External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six-month probation period.
