Working as part of the Business and Innovation Directorate, this position will play a key role in delivering UKRI-STFC's Research and Innovation Campus and Cluster strategies.

As a Graduate Cluster Development Officer, you will join a well-established team that is developing innovation clusters in high-growth economic sectors such as Health Tech and Space. You will interact with organisations across Harwell Campus, including world-class facilities, cutting-edge research institutes, centres and businesses to drive growth of the growth of clusters.

You will support the Director, Innovation Clusters and Harwell Campus to deliver dynamic projects and schemes that encourage collaboration and engagement between cluster organisations, to help strengthen connections, exchange ideas and stimulate development of new technologies or products in businesses.

There are also opportunities within this role to work with a diverse group people across the Business and Innovation Directorate, including with teams that support innovation and impact, business development and early-stage business incubation, depending on your strengths and interests. These wider opportunities will help to develop your knowledge and experience, grow into your role, and take your career in your chosen direction.

The Harwell Clusters build on the long history of innovation on the site. Areas of focus include Health Tech, Space, Energy Tech and Quantum. Harwell facilities such as Diamond, ISIS, CLF are used extensively for research and Harwell's innovation community and collaborations extend to over 200 organisations on site, with a wide industry, academic and government network across the UK.

The driving objective is to exploit Harwell's unique combination of facilities and highly skilled people to boost growth and innovation.

About the role and a summary of key duties & responsibilities

Working with the Director, Innovation Clusters and Harwell Campus to help plan and deliver cluster-focussed meetings, events, conferences and networking activities - both virtual and face-to-face - supporting / leading on the organisation, delivery and associated logistics, as appropriate.
Supporting the delivery of key Cluster development activities, including enquiries from businesses regarding sources of relevant knowledge, support, finance and other resources. For example the Cross Cluster Proof of Concept Programme
Gathering, understanding and maintaining an awareness of the diverse Campus and Cluster community and the activities of other STFC groups, including the Business Development and Innovation and Impact teams, to support joint working.
Collecting and analysing data on Campus and Cluster activities to help evidence their impact.
Contributing to and/or leading on the development of clear and concise case studies and policy briefings for a range of audiences.
Building and maintaining good working relationships with organisations on Harwell Campus and key stakeholders across the research and innovation system. Including attending key Campus and Cluster-focused events to help facilitate interactions between attendees e.g. Harwell Climate Tech Festival, Harwell Connect Events, NxtGen Events, etc.
