We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Assistant Management Accountant.
In this role, youll support with the preparation of the accounting processes and cycle for our End of Life Funeral Crematoria and Burial business areas.

This role is based at our head office in Portsmouth.
The role offers hybrid working with a minimum of 2 days in the office.
The office has great amenities with free onsite parking and a shuttle bus service.

What to expect

● Preparation of the monthly confirmed sales report and circulation to key stakeholders.
● Own the monthly Management Accounts Reporting function for End of Life Funeral Crematoria and Burial Businesses, ensuring that periodic deadlines are met and that output is maintained to high standards. Inclusive of Management Accounts production, variance analysis, margin review and presentation of results to stakeholders.
● Monthly P&L Variance reporting from P&L preparation to Presentation of Management Accounts for Crematoria & Natural Burial, ensuring that cost of sales and overheads accruals and prepayments are all posted correctly and on time.
● Monthly balance sheet reconciliations & debt reconciliation.
● Preparation of monthly finance pack reports.
● Weekly Funeral volume collation and reconciliation.
● Provide Assistance to Finance Manager in End of Life Services Budget preparation and quarterly reforecasting.
● Provide assistance to Financial Processing Team Manager in reconciliation and resolution of DIDOS queries (mis-matches on Purchase Invoice Matching system).
● Preparation and ownership of weekly “flash” sales reporting for the ELS business.
● Credit note administration and management of unbalanced accounts.
● Other relevant Finance related ad hoc duties as and when required, with a focus on process improvement and efficiency.

Key skills required

● Good communications skills with the experience of, and ability to, challenge and influence where required.
● Previous experience of Management Accounting.
● Strong analytical skills, with high attention to detail and process orientated approach to work.
● Ability to manage own workload accordingly and meet deadlines.
● Proficient in the use of Excel supported by generally high levels of IT literacy.
● AAT qualified (or equivalent of).
● Studying towards CIMA (desirable).
