1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant (Redbridge)
Location: Redbridge Salary: £85 - £100 per day Contract: Full-time | Part-time | Contract Start date: ASAP

Hays Education are working on behalf of an Ofsted rated 'Good' Primary School based in Redbridge - they are looking for a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, who is experienced in supporting children with special needs, on a 1:1, small group, or whole class basis. As well as developing and delivering personalised learning, you will work with colleagues to support pupils with their daily routines, transitions, and positive behaviour management. A tailored approach to the individual child ensures that every student has the opportunity to reach their full potential in a caring and safe environment. The Teaching Assistant will need to support the Class Teacher with the day to day running of the class.

Your responsibilities

  • As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be required to:
  • Organise the classroom and learning resources.
  • Provide pupils with academic and emotional support.
  • Provide personal care to pupils if required.
  • Promote and encourage independence and personal development in pupils and maintain high expectations of behaviour at all times.
  • Liaise with colleagues effectively for the benefit of the students and working environment.
  • Provide a safe learning environment for the children.
  • Get the classroom ready for lessons and clearing away afterwards to maintain a safe and clean environment.
  • Record and report a pupil's progress to the teacher.


Requirements

  • GCSE Maths and English Language qualification minimum Grade 4 or equivalent is essential.
  • Have a valid in-date Enhanced DBS (preferably on the Update Service).
  • Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures.
  • It is essential that they have experience providing specialist support to children with SEN and preferably 1:1 support with children who have moderate to severe behavioural difficulties.
  • The ideal candidate for the school is someone who has experience working with either ASC, Dyslexia, Challenging Behaviour, PLD, MLD, PECs and Makaton.
