Learning Support AssistantRole Overview:The Lead Learning Support Assistant will play a critical role in supporting students with additional learning needs, ensuring they receive tailored assistance to succeed in their studies. This position involves leading a team of Learning Support Assistants, working closely with faculty, and directly engaging with students to provide comprehensive support within the college setting.
Key Responsibilities for theLearning Support Assistant:
- Lead and manage a team of Learning Support Assistants, offering guidance, training, and support to ensure high-quality assistance for students.
- Collaborate with faculty to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) that address the specific needs of students.
- Provide one-on-one and group support to students, helping them overcome academic, social, and emotional challenges.
- Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting support strategies as necessary to promote continuous improvement.
- Work with teachers to modify curriculum delivery to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Serve as a liaison between students, families, and external agencies to coordinate effective support.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of college policies and practices related to special educational needs (SEN).
Learning Support AssistantQualifications Required:
- Proven experience as a Learning Support Assistant or in a similar role within a secondary school or college, with a strong understanding of SEN.
- A relevant qualification in education, special education, or a related field.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment.
- The ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, and external stakeholders.
- A proactive and adaptable approach to problem-solving and supporting student needs.
