• Location: Manchester / Greater Manchester
• Salary: £24,500 - £47,000
• Reports to: Partner / Head of Department
• Work pattern: Hybrid
• Previous experience: Casualty EL/PL or industrial disease experience, from either a claimant or defendant background.

Casualty EL/PL opportunities

The Casualty team is looking to recruit a number of fee earners at various levels. Depending on your experience you will handle a caseload of either delegated authority fixed fee cases or more complex non-delegated work on behalf of a number of insurance clients. Generally, the mix of work tends to be fast track with multi track work with reserves of up to around £100,000. The successful candidates will:

• Carry their own caseloads of delegated or non-delegated work depending on your level of experience
• work alongside experienced fee earners who will assist, where necessary, in setting strategies and make liability decisions;
• develop your technical knowledge alongside this experienced lawyer, gradually taking more and more responsibility as you grow in confidence.

Industrial disease opportunities

These roles involve assisting an experienced lawyer with their caseload of complex work namely asbestos / mesothelioma cases and other respiratory cases. The hiring managers are looking for a qualified fee earner or Litigation Executive to support with delegated tasks where the candidate will be given the opportunity to hone their own litigation skills. In particular, you will develop experience:

• analysing evidence including medical records
• Attending conferences and trials with Counsel
• drafting court documents
• preparing trial bundles
• Dealing with disclosure
• Instructing counsel where necessary
• Negotiation and development of advocacy skills.

Both the EL/PL and industrial disease opportunities are designed to develop your experience while assisting more senior fee earners. The aim is to develop you quickly and give you the skills to develop your career in litigation.
