About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Emerging Talent Advisor to join our team. This role is integral in shaping the future of our workforce by providing comprehensive support and development for professionals across selected business divisions. You will play a key role in guiding, mentoring, and supporting graduates, apprentices, and placement students in their professional growth, ensuring their engagement and long-term retention within the company.

As an Emerging Talent Advisor, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic programmes, initiatives, and policies related to Emerging Talent. Your work will involve building relationships with both internal and external partners, and creating a nurturing environment that helps the employees in question thrive. This is about being a mentor and advocate for talent, supporting career development, and ensuring they have a rewarding experience with us.

Key Responsibilities

Pastoral Care and Talent Development

  • Provide ongoing support and mentorship to graduates, apprentices, and placement students to help them succeed and feel valued within the organisation.
  • Develop, manage, and monitor the progress of all Emerging Talent programmes.
  • Serve as a central point of contact and support for all young professionals during their placement and upon their return to university.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to deliver high-quality developmental programmes for emerging talent.
  • Ensure a high retention rate by fostering a supportive and engaging environment through effective pastoral care processes.

Programme Management

  • Develop tailored learning and development programmes for all types of Emerging Talent, including graduates, undergraduates, and apprentices.
  • Implement strategies and initiatives to promote the success and growth of young professionals.
  • Report on individual progress and programme effectiveness, ensuring continuous improvement.
  • Celebrate achievements and milestones within the programme to motivate and encourage continued participation.

Relationship Building

  • Engage with relevant Ambassadors and Partners to align on recruitment and development strategies.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Internal Communications to effectively promote emerging talent initiatives.
  • Work closely with current trainees, apprentices, and associates to involve them in the attraction and development of new talent.

What Were Looking For

Were seeking an enthusiastic individual with experience in youth development, pastoral care, or a similar field. Ideally, you will have worked with government schemes, youth programmes, or further education colleges and have a strong understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities associated with supporting young people in their early careers.

You will need excellent communication skills, a passion for nurturing and developing talent, and the ability to work collaboratively across teams to achieve strategic objectives.

Additional Requirements

  • A full and valid UK driving license and own vehicle is essential.
  • Willingness to travel regularly between regional offices and project locations, with occasional evening work to attend events or meetings.

Essential Criteria

  • Experience in Emerging Talent Development: Proven experience in a role focused on developing and supporting young talent, including programme development and pastoral care, preferably within an educational or youth development context.
  • Knowledge of Education Systems: Strong understanding of secondary and higher education frameworks in the UK, including the structure and delivery of apprenticeships and the apprenticeship levy.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with colleagues at all levels, from entry-level to board directors. Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with young professionals, internal teams, and external partners.
  • Organisational and Administrative Abilities: Demonstrated organisational skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities, coordinate events, and deliver projects within deadlines.
  • Learning and Development Expertise: Ability to assess learning and development needs and to design, implement, and manage appropriate programmes and initiatives to support the growth of emerging talent.
  • IT Proficiency: Competency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Teamwork and Collaboration: Strong team-working skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and with external partners to achieve shared goals.
  • Presentation and Facilitation Skills: Confident and skilled in delivering presentations and workshops to diverse audiences.
  • Project and Time Management: Strong project management skills, with the capacity to manage multiple work streams and meet both quality and time-based objectives.
  • Flexibility and Mobility: Willingness and ability to travel regularly throughout the UK to attend internal and external events, with a clean UK driving license and own vehicle.
