Job Description

The role of a regional Manager is to manage a team of BDM’s who will generate residential and Buy To Let mortgage business via mortgage intermediaries through building and developing relationships in a given area. This is a dual branded role covering both Nationwide and The Mortgage Works intermediary proposition. Applicants must have a current driving licence.

This would be an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual with experience in Team Management with a good knowledge of the intermediary market.


This is field based role in which the expectation is that you will conduct your day to day activities within the area as allocated. You will also need to attend any Team meetings that are arranged in any of the regional hubs.

What you’ll be doing:


As a Regional Manager, the area you will be covering is Midlands, North & Scotland

You’ll achieve key objectives by developing a business plan, delivered through a team, to optimise mortgage volumes, business quality and digital integration along with other objectives as detailed in the Intermediary Relationships Community Plan.


You’ll line manage, motivate, supervise and coach a team of circa 10 BDMs in order to enhance relationship management, business development skills and technical knowledge to competent standards with Intermediaries within a defined geographical territory. Embedding a positive culture will be a key accountability and delivering outstanding service via your team of BDMs.


It will be your responsibility to meet and present to Key Accounts in your Regional Manager capacity, promoting Nationwide's Intermediary proposition. In addition, support Nationwide by means of attendance at Financial Service and industry exhibitions/trade fares.


You’ll be responsible for the team's maintenance of controls within all quality and regulatory guidelines including database management, activity levels, complaint management and quality of case submission.


You will need to be aware and understand strategic intermediary competitor activity and their impact upon Nationwide, giving feedback and making recommendations. And demonstrate a detailed understanding of key market issues, in particular the threats presented by new entrants and digital development across the sector.


You will be responsible for ensuring support for the Society’s diversity and inclusivity responsibilities.


About you:


As a minimum you’ll;

  • Have excellent motivational and leadership skills
  • Have coaching and supervision skills
  • Have a proven track record of successful management and target achievement
  • Have a proven track record of successful business development in a financial services environment
  • Have achieved success through managing a team
  • Have knowledge and understanding of the Intermediary market place
  • Be CeMAP qualified or have a similar level of specialist qualification
  • Understand the MCoB, ICoB rules and other regulation that may impact upon the intermediary market place and its' business
