Job Description

We’re offering an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to become part of the Customer, Brand & Engagement (CB&E) function; delivering our purpose of Banking – but fairer, more rewarding and for the good of society.


As a Communications Risk Manager, you’ll be part of a great team responsible for providing an end to end risk governance service within CB&E. This will include the design and delivery of succinct and meaningful risk, process and policy management reporting, monitoring the Communications Risk Policy critical controls performance and loss events, and working with stakeholders from across the Society to ensure our communications have the greatest impact for our customers. You’ll have experience dealing with senior stakeholders, prioritising multiple deliverables and advising on matters related to risk, policy and process governance.


This role sits in CB&E Risk, which is responsible for enabling the function to sustainably achieve its priorities, and growing risk capability.

For this job you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, based at either our London, Swindon or Bournemouth office. What you'll be doing

You’ll be helping to implement, an effective model for governing Nationwide’s communication risks and controls. You’ll also be designing and delivering regular, succinct, and meaningful risk reporting to allow Accountable Executives to understand and manage their communications risks and controls effectively.


In support of this, you’ll help the Head of Risk understand and monitor the critical control improvement plans and issue management profile, supporting them in ensuring committed actions are delivered on time and to the right level of quality, first time.


About you

  • A strong understanding of risk, policy and process governance and its application across the enterprise risk management framework.
  • Knowledge of, and experience in, using a variety of Microsoft Office products, such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, to a high standard.
  • A proven track record of displaying excellent attention to detail in the delivery of work outputs.
  • The ability to identify themes and to document them in reporting in an insightful way.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the proven ability to liaise with a number of stakeholders at senior levels, including ExCo members.
  • A strong understanding of controls in relation to risk, policy and process management.
  • Good understanding of the SM&CR and associated regulatory requirements.
