Description
This position is responsible for operating a truck in the maintenance of county roadways.
Examples of Duties
- Performs daily check of tires and fluid levels on vehicles and equipment; performs minor repairs and maintenance as needed.
- Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspection of equipment.
- Operates a dump truck to transport dirt and other materials to work sites.
- Operates a water truck to water roads.
- Operates a patching truck in support of road maintenance and repair operations.
- Operates a refuse truck along an assigned route.
- Operates a grapple truck to pick up trash and tree branches.
- Operates a winch truck to transport equipment to and from work sites.
- Operates an emulsion distributor truck to seal asphalt roads.
- Installs cones and traffic control devices; flags traffic as needed.
- Responds to after-hours emergencies.
- Performs any other duties as assigned.
- At least one (1) year of driving experience.
- Must possess a valid and current Commercial Class A driver's license (CDL) with a Tanker Endorsement (N).
- Knowledge of county policies and procedures pertaining to road maintenance and repair.
- Knowledge of road construction and maintenance techniques.
- Knowledge of departmental and safety rules and regulations.
- Skill in operating assigned trucks and equipment.
- Skill in establishing safe work zones.
- Skill in the maintenance and repair of a variety of tools and equipment.
- Skill in the use of hand and power tools.
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing in the English language and orally in the Spanish language.
