Position Overview

Primary Function:

Drives local shuttle on fixed route day and night as needed.

As a Shuttle Driver, you will be responsible for passengers' safe and efficient transportation to and from designated locations. You will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, maintaining a clean and safe vehicle, and ensuring on-time arrivals and departures. This position requires excellent communication skills, solid attention to detail, and a commitment to providing a positive experience for passengers.

This position reports to the Sewanee Police Chief.

  • Hourly position- Academic year
  • On-Call/Part-Time
Position Description

Judgment Required:Judgment and discretion as to the use of established policies are required to perform the essential duties of this position.

Budgetary Responsibility:None

  • Vans
  • Trucks
  • Minibus
  • Full-size bus as needed.

Student Contact: Daily

External: As needed

Attributes of a Successful Candidate

Education:High school diploma

Experience:
  • Experience with public transit,
  • Transportation,
  • Logistics preferred,
  • First Aid training is preferred and,
  • Knowledge of essential vehicle maintenance is preferred.
Job-Related Skills:
  • Communication skills,
  • Judgment,
  • Diplomacy and,
  • Ability to communicate with diverse students, staff, and alumni.
Licenses/Certifications:Tennessee class D Driver's license with F endorsement.

Any additional requirements specific to this position:
A clean driving record with no DUI convictions or major traffic violations.

Working environment:
This position will spend the majority of the time driving a fixed route shuttle in Sewanee, TN.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift/carry 5-10 pounds for short distances.
