The Search

If you’re highly organised and flexible, would enjoy a varied and busy role, and want to learn how a small, growing business works, then we’d love to hear from you!

Who are we?

  • We were founded in April 2021 as the UK’s most forward-thinking People & Talent Executive Search firm, working mainly with VC backed start-ups and scale-ups.
  • Over the last 3 years we’ve had record-breaking turnover, grown to a team of 5, and expanded our offering into Operations and Marketing search, placing COO’s, Chief’s of Staff and Marketing leaders, as well as People leaders.
  • We work directly with the Founders & Exec teams of some of the most exciting scale-ups in London – Multiverse, Nothing.Tech, Carwow, Luno, Copper, Deepmind, Wheely, Ramp, Kraken, Sonder, Zego, Cleo, Exscientia, and loads more.
  • In 2023, we won Best New Agency at The Recruiter Awards – https://recruiterawards.co.uk/best-new-agency-2023/
  • We’re looking to grow to 10+ over the next year and expand into Europe and the US.
  • We run incredible invite-only events and community groups for our clients, and are launching our own Podcast this year.
  • We are a high-performing team, but we’re also super down to earth and care about creating an environment that celebrates authenticity – we want to be able to have fun and be ourselves!
  • We donate 1% of turnover to charities each year, including Women’s Aid and Children With Cancer UK, two charities very close to our hearts.

What’s the role?

  • Our Founder, Penny, is focused on Business Development and growing The Search. Your key objective is to ensure that Penny’s time is managed on the most important stuff that is going to enable us to scale.
  • This role will support Penny across a wide range of activities, from Research, Diary Management, Systems & Tech, Marketing, People Operations, Finance, Events, Legal, Customer Experience, liaising with Clients, assisting with the management of the team, personal / confidential activities and general ad-hoc projects and admin that needs doing!
  • You’ll be responsible for managing all day-to-day operations of the business internally, from onboarding new staff, to ensuring our system is up to date and being utilised effectively, to researching & market mapping, as well as redesigning our external processes, ensuring an exceptional experience for our customers.
  • We are at a critical stage in our journey and your role will be to ensure we are set up for success as we scale from 5 to 10+, building and rebuilding the way we do things.

What are we looking for?

  • We’re flexible on experience, but you must have transferable skills dealing with difficult situations, managing stakeholders, managing complex projects, making an impact, creating order out of chaos, solving problems and using your initiative.
  • We are not looking for average, we are looking for passionate people who take pride in their work and care about doing things differently and making a difference.
  • We are growing a relatively new brand that competes (and wins) against the bigger players, and therefore we need someone with high levels of flexibility, and motivation – this role won’t be easy so we want someone that likes a challenge!
  • You’ll be our Founders right hand person – so it will require someone super commercial, organised, smart, trustworthy, and flexible.
  • We want creators, builders, those who have ideas and who want to contribute.
  • Interest in the world of People / Talent / Operations / Marketing, Executive Search / Recruitment and Tech / Start-ups.
  • Tech-savvy with excellent written and verbal communication skills, proficient with Excel, MS 365, Social media.
  • Affinity with our company values of Authenticity, Curiosity, Inclusivity, Bravery and Excellence.
  • Positivity, enthusiasm and no ego! Even our Founder has to get her hands dirty doing administrative tasks if they just need to get done. If you’re precious, this won’t be the right role for you.
  • Highly organised, can work under pressure with a high workload.
  • Smart with high-EQ, preferably educated to degree level.

Why this role?

  • You get to work directly with our Founder, Penny, having unique insight into how a small business runs.
  • You’ll also have exposure to working with Founders from various start-ups.
  • This is a hugely varied role – you’ll definitely never be bored! You’ll be covering everything from marketing, operations, sales, systems & processes, people, pitching, so you’ll have countless opportunities to learn and develop.
  • We don’t take ourselves too seriously, we are proudly non-corporate and we like to have fun!
  • We are passionate about working as a team, giving and receiving feedback, and continually learning from each other.
  • We are an extremely values driven business – we’re Authentic, Prioritise Impact, Take Ownership and Embrace Discomfort. We value hard-work, bravery, and honesty.

We aren’t the finished article, but what we have achieved in such a short space of time is pretty special. If all goes to plan, you’ll be part of a hugely successful growth journey, and be given the opportunity to come in at the right time, building this business with us.
