About the Role

My client, a leading retail business headquartered in London is seeking a People Business Partner to join their team on a fixed-term contract basis covering a maternity leave for 14 months, starting at the end of October 2024. Reporting to the Head of People, this role will act as a trusted partner to senior stakeholders across a crucial business directorate, liaising closely with stakeholders to cultivate an agile, high-performing culture. This is a hybrid role working from the London office 2 days per week.


Key Responsibilities

  • act as a technical expert, able to confidently provide robust, trusted advice to your stakeholders, with the confidence to challenge and influence them
  • analyse data and reporting to identify insights and trends, to incorporate into the directorate's people plan
  • build and develop high performing teams by delivering a robust talent process that identifies gaps, and supports development and succession planning
  • foster an effective performance management culture, educating your managers on how to effectively performance manage with realistic objectives and tangible measures
  • act as a positive role model during periods of change and transition
  • working in partnership with the employee relations team to coach and guide leaders through complex ER cases, to help mitigate risk to the business
  • support leaders to create a people first culture, that prioritise values and behaviours from the top down


About You

I am looking for dynamic HR Business Partners with a solutions-focused approach, and a concise and articulate communication style, adept at operating in a fast-paced, commercial environment. Applicants for this role should be able to demonstrate a strong track record in managing and driving HR strategy in a fast-paced, complex environment, as well as effectively and impactfully supporting a business unit through operational change. Ideally, candidates will have experience operating within the retail industry and a good knowledge of the role and challenges of IT, digital and social media within a retail businesses.


Key Skills & Experience

  • demonstrable experience of successfully partnering with different directorates and leadership stakeholders
  • comfortable operating in a dynamic, complex, and ambiguous environment
  • expertise in successfully managing and implementing change initiatives
  • high level of emotional intelligence to effectively support, challenge and coach leaders
  • excellent working knowledge of UK employment law
