Description:
DUTIES: Repair and replace defective or worn electrical and electronic parts in motors, generators, pumps, telemetry equipment, controllers, switches and other facilities and equipment. Test, locate, and repair damaged electrical and electronic circuitry in a variety of facilities and equipment. Troubleshoot and install telephone equipment. Maintain, repair and adjust building heating, ventilation and maintenance equipment. Inspect newly installed electrical and electronic equipment and lighting to ensure safe and satisfactory functioning. Revise and design a wide variety of electrical systems related to municipal facilities and equipment as necessary. Operate electrical maintenance tools and equipment including aerial lifts, volt meters and a wide variety of hand tools. Able to read and interpret blue prints and schematics related to electrical systems.
QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, equipment and procedures used in the repair of electrical and electronic devices. Principles of electrical and electronic repair, maintenance and system design. Understand and interpret blueprints, schematics and diagrams. Understand and follow written and oral instructions. Communicate clearly and concisely. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Work evenings and weekends in emergency situations. 1 year of journey level experience in the installation, repair, replacement, and maintenance of electrical and electronic equipment, systems and components. Equivalent to completion of the 12th grade supplemented by specialized training in electrical and electronic systems installations, maintenance and repair. Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver's license. Possession of or ability to obtain an appropriate, valid Journeyman Electrician Card.
