Diversion Intervention Worker – Children Services – Croydon Council



Salary: Grade 12 £47,040 - £49,083

Fixed Term / Secondment for 2 years – 36 hours per week



Hybrid working



Job Purpose

To work with adolescents involved and at risk of becoming involved criminal activity in the town centre. To assess individual risk and need in and outside of the home and in the community. To provide targeted interventions, group sessions and support positive changes. When an individual has been identified as being involved as a perpetrator of robbery but not within the Criminal Justice Service, we will offer wraparound support and diversionary activities. The role will involve close working with the police to identify and support young people involved in criminal activity and will work with young people and their families.



About You

We are looking for an experienced and appropriately qualified professional that is able to demonstrate their knowledge and experience of working with challenging young people. You will have experience in face to face delivery of appropriate interventions, guidance and support which empowers adolescents, builds on individual strengths and assists them to develop strategies to understand, manage and respond to risk, and to ensure assessments and plans reflect this. The role may require you to work outside of core hours which may require evening and weekend working. You may be required to travel across the country to be available to offer support to adolescents and their family.



Essential Requirements

Relevant professional qualification in working with children and/or Adolescents



Able to engage and develop effective professional relationships with adolescents and their families/carers in order to achieve sustainable positive outcomes



Able to engage and develop effective professional relationships with other professionals and organisations



Ability to identify, assess and determine individual plans based on strengths for adolescents focussed on safety, protecting from harm and reducing risk



Able to make sound professional judgments.



Able to develop and deliver targeted interventions that reduce risk and vulnerability for adolescents



Able to communicate to a high standard verbally and in writing and to produce and present high quality reports.



Able to comply in practice with statutory requirements and guidance, and local procedures and standards.



You must be able to work independently and as part of a team and have good communication skills



Working knowledge of issues relating to adolescents, exploitation and community safety
