Position: Learning Resources Manager

Location: On-Site, Stratford, London, UK

Salary: £40,000 to £45,000 FTE (Depending on experience and qualification)

Employment Type: Monday to Friday, Full-Time

Job Overview: The Learning Resources Manager will have oversight of all physical and online materials and the physical campus library. They will be responsible for the delivery of library resource access training to students and staff and will lead on liaison with university partner staff regarding library matters, including reading lists.



Key Responsibilities:


The delivery of library and learning resource services


  • To manage the library and digital learning resources at William College, setting and maintaining standards and overseeing front-line enquiry services.
  • To coordinate and deliver a programme of information literacy and research skills teaching to students and staff including assessment and feedback as appropriate
  • To liaise with academic staff on the embedding of information literacy and research skills teaching within the curriculum.
  • To undertake collection management, development and promotion within allocated subject areas.
  • To establish and maintain effective working relationships and communication with colleagues within William College, university partners and other stakeholders, including publishers and suppliers.
  • To oversee the delivery of induction briefings to students and college staff as required



The management of library and learning resource services


  • To take overall responsibility for the William College library including liaison with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • To participate in operational planning, policy development and objective setting regarding library and learning resources for the College.



General matters


  • Implement College policies and procedures as appropriate and work within the College’s framework of strategies and policies
  • Stay updated with regulatory requirements and industry best practices to inform policy decisions.
  • To maintain and develop knowledge and understanding of good professional practice.
  • To undertake continuing professional development.
  • To undertake any other duties required which are within the scope and grade of the post.



Qualifications/Experience


Essential:

  • Postgraduate qualification in library/information management (or appropriate equivalent)
  • Professional experience in a library and/or information environment
  • Experience of working in a customer facing environment


Desirable:

  • Experience of working in an academic library
  • Teaching qualification
  • Previous teaching experience



Skills & Knowledge


Essential:


  • Ability to plan and deliver information literacy and research skills teaching and learning
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to analyse data and report on it in a clear and concise manner
  • Knowledge of good practice in information literacy
  • Excellent ICT skills, including spreadsheets, word processing, presentations, web authoring, etc.
  • Professional skills relating to the collection management and development
  • Professional skills in relation to searching electronic resources, experience of Library Management Systems etc.
  • Good budgetary skills


Desirable:

  • Knowledge of the UK higher education environment, including teaching, learning and research
