Our Engineering team is having a blast while delivering the most sophisticated crypto-trading platform out there. Help us continue to define and lead the industry. As part of Kraken's Core Infrastructure Team, you will work within a world-class team of engineers building and maintaining Kraken's infrastructure. As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will be keeping one of the fastest growing companies in the world up and available in a 24/7 environment. You will bring your own technical expertise to monitor and support staging and production environments, build tooling, CI/CD pipelines, deployment specifications and generally automate internal processes to empower developers and improve team efficiency. The opportunity Responsible for the Core Infrastructure Platform supporting Kraken's exchange, which includes a highly resilient and available, distributed infrastructure with low-latency trading, compute, storage, networking, both on-premises and in the cloud Deliver, monitor, and support Staging and Production infrastructure and services Migrate services and applications between cloud environments and on-premises data centers Design, build, and maintain software tooling to help improve developer velocity Implement and maintain security best practices for infrastructure and services, ensuring system security and availability Manage service deployments using orchestration technologies such as Nomad and Kubernetes Write software and configuration specifications to track key metrics and generate alerts Collaborate with Dev, QA, SRE, and Product teams to support and improve the SDLC Migrate and maintain solutions to Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Terraform Build, maintain, and monitor Ingress Infrastructure with internal tools and external CDNs Support and monitor distributed data services such as Kafka, Redis, Elasticsearch, MariaDB Implement and manage Continuous Integration and Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines and tools Automate internal processes and provide self-service tools to other teams Benchmark applications, identify bottlenecks, and lead towards resolution Support a fully distributed team operating across numerous time zones Troubleshoot infrastructure issues and provide guidance to other teams Participate in on-call rotations to ensure the smooth operation of critical systems Skills you should HODL 4 years of experience working in an SRE, DevOps, or as a Backend Developer with infrastructure 2 years of experience with a programming/scripting language (Rust, Golang, Python, Bash or Ruby) A strong security mindset and experience in establishing security best practices in complex environments Extensive experience with monitoring, logging and alerting tools Thorough knowledge of Docker and orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes or Nomad Passion for improving processes, products, and the developer experience for engineering teams Extensive experience with AWS Cloud Infrastructure Professional experience with IaC tools such as Terraform, Salt, and container orchestration technologies like the HashiCorp stack (Vault, Consul, Nomad) and Kubernetes Proficient in Git source version control Ability to thrive while working independently and remotely in a team-based environment Self-starter, capable of context-switching between various projects, codebases, and concepts Ability to independently debug problems involving networks and operating systems Practical experience with modern Linux systems, command line, and shell scripting Knowledgeable about continuous integration and delivery best practices Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Nice to haves Strong background in Linux, Networking, and Distributed Systems Knowledge of Cloudflare WAF, Security, Caching, Page Rules, and Workers Experience in orchestrating deployments and container management with Nomad Experience with HashiCorp tools like Nomad, Vault, Consul Experience with Slack, Jira, Google, and GitLab APIs Experience with distributed data systems and technologies (Kafka, Redis, NoSQL, SQL, etc.) A passion for open-source and contributing back to the community USCANBR LI-Remote LI-ZW1 This job is accepting ongoing applications and there is no application deadline.
