0.5 Emergency Classroom Supervisor (Kars on the Rideau PS)

Our schools are teaching communities where principals, vice-principals, teachers and support staff nurture student well-being and challenge students to achieve their best. 0.5 Emergency Classroom Supervisor - Kars on the Rideau Summary Reporting to the Principal/Vice Principal, the Emergency Classroom Supervisor will: Provide adult supervision in the classroom with the support of the qualified teacher Support a safe learning environment; and Assistance to students with completing work assigned by the classroom teacher. Duties and Responsibilities Provide supervision, along with the classroom teacher, for a class of students or groups of students to ensure a safe and secure environment Taking attendance and reporting student absences Assist students to complete work that has been assigned by the classroom teacher; Follow school safety protocols and school and student safety plans to ensure the health and safety of staff and students Maintain confidentiality and protect student privacy Perform additional duties that may be assigned by the Principal / Vice-Principal, including supervision on the school yard, in hallways or other areas of the school. Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills As a condition of employment, the successful candidate must provide a valid Police Records Check for Vulnerable Sector (PVRC) completed within six months of date of hire Applicants must be at least 18 years of age at time of employment Completion of a high school diploma; preference will be given to applicants currently enrolled in a university or college program or graduates of these programs Experience working/volunteering with children and/or adults, preferably in an education setting Sound judgment and decision-making skills Proficiency in English language, with French language skills considered an asset Ability to follow instructions and show initiative.
