Job Description

About the role: We’re looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic KS1 Teaching Assistant to join our team part-time, working with young learners in a nurturing and engaging classroom environment. As a TA, you will provide essential support to the class teacher, helping students with learning activities, one-on-one interventions, and small group sessions. Your work will ensure that children, particularly those who need extra help, stay on track and build confidence. This role is ideal for someone who is patient, caring, and motivated by making a positive impact on young learners’ lives. Experience working with children with additional needs is beneficial, as you’ll be supporting students with varied learning abilities.

About the school: The school is a vibrant Church of England primary located in Finchley, with a welcoming atmosphere that feels like a close-knit community. It offers a diverse and inclusive environment, where students and staff alike enjoy a sense of belonging. With around 500 pupils, the school is big enough to offer a wide range of activities and resources, but small enough for everyone to know each other’s names! The school provides an exciting curriculum that integrates academic learning with a variety of extracurricular activities. You’ll have the chance to assist with engaging school trips, music, sports, and creative arts lessons, allowing you to work in different settings and with children who love to learn in a dynamic and hands-on way.

Application Requirements:

• Relevant experience working with children in a school setting, preferably in Key Stage 1 (KS1).
• A Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
• A good understanding of the KS1 curriculum and interventions for literacy and numeracy.
• Experience supporting children with additional needs, including SEN or those requiring extra learning support.
• An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one) and the right to work in the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the class teacher in preparing lesson materials and managing the classroom.
• Work with small groups of students to provide targeted support and interventions.
• Provide one-on-one support for students who may need extra help, particularly in literacy and numeracy.
• Help to create a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment for all pupils.
• Assist with monitoring student progress and reporting back to the class teacher.

Perks and Benefits:

• Supportive Staff Environment – Work alongside experienced teachers and staff who value teamwork and collaboration.
• CPD Opportunities – Access ongoing professional development to help you grow in your role and build your skills.
• Varied Role – Enjoy a role that offers the chance to work across different areas of the curriculum and with different student needs.
• Community Feel – Join a school that celebrates its diverse and inclusive environment, where you’ll feel part of a close-knit team.
• Convenient Location – Situated in a pleasant area of Finchley with great transport links, making it easy to commute.
